Aero India-2013 windows open for exhibitors

With the ministry of defence (MoD) confirming that the 2013 edition of the Aero India will be held in Bangalore, organisers have started the registration process for the bi-annual show.

The Defence Exhibition Organisation, nodal and co-ordination agency for the Aero India, has opened the registration for exhibitors for the show, which will be held at Air Force Station, Yelahanka, from February 6 to 10.

Aero India 2013 will be organised in February 2013 and will provide a significant platform to bolster business opportunities in the international aviation sector, say the organisers.

According to them, during the previous edition, held in 2011, exhibitors from 29 countries with 675 companies (380 overseas and 295 domestic) and 47 overseas delegations participated. The total exhibition area (including outdoor) stood at 75,000 sq m. Aero India 2013 is favourably poised for an exponential growth over previous edition, they add.

This apart, the Defence Research and Development Organisation, organisers of the international seminar, which is held as prelude to the air show, has also started the registration process. The theme of the seminar is Aerospace Products—Challenges in Design to Deployment.

Air & space vehicles, aeronautical and space systems, enabling technologies, operations, testing and airworthiness, quality assurance and maintenance, prototype to production and software are the sub-themes of the seminar, which will be held between February 4 and 6.

Earlier this year, there was a proposal to shift the Aero India out from Bangalore to ensure that operations of commercial flights at the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) are not affected.

During the rehearsals for Aero India, aircraft operations at BIA are normally halted from 10 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 3.30 pm.

During the main event, aircraft operations are halted from 10 am to 12 am and from 2.30 pm to 5 pm.

This demand was opposed by the state government, which had written to the MoD for retaining the Aero India at its present venue, which has successfully hosted seven air shows since 1996.
