The work on two Karachi nuclear power projects with cumulative capacity of 2200 megawatts is underway.

The power plants are being completed under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects at a cost of over nine billion dollars.

These power plants are expected to start producing electricity by the end of next year.

Similarly, work on 1320 Megawatts coal based power plants at port Qasim in Karachi, 1320 megawatts coal based power project in Thar coal field is also underway.

ACPR1000+ & about uranium maybe china

I though they were supposed to be completed in 2020-21?

I think they maybe construct it on fast phase but still will no finish for elections as source is very credible

Pakistan needs more & bigger Nuclear Power plants.

These are already huge ... 1100 megawatt is cosidered huge ....

Issue is of uranium supply as we do not have uranium in Pakistan therefore we need to procure it from other countries which is not an easy process ...

Pakistan not being member of NSG do not have access to nuclear material with ease ...

it is 3 billion dollar expensive sound like heavy chines currption

Unless paksitan gets regular source of nuclear fuel, it would be once again the fall apart as oil based power generation plans. I wish this attempt succeeds and brings much needed power to common man.

And who told this? Is this some kind of Amudha Surabhi? (Which can never deplete). Standard replacement time is 12 or 18 months depending upon the country and its standard of build.

I really doubt this news.

9 billion? Isn't that a bit expensive??

It depends on technology been used in the reactor, these plants using latest technology named Hualong One

I really doubt this news.

Same here as even china has not completed any power plant using this latest technology and their completion date is 2019-2020, so dont know how they will finish first in Pakistan

It's actually targeted for 2022. Construction has been going on for a couple years at least, but quite slow.
