This thread is about a border skirmish between India and Bangladesh and not about the 1971 War. Please try not to dodge the subject. Yes India wants to make Bangladesh like Bhutan and Nepal, but that will not happen. Building dams on rivers to destroy Bangladeshi agriculture is something Bangladesh is aware of.

You Indians did try to fool Sri Lanka with selling them radars that did not detect low flying objects and the trained LTTE to fly low flying aircraft to do suicide missions. Yes, Sri Lanka realized and stopped buying Indian military hardware and came to Pakistan for weapons because they trusted us. And again it was the Pakistani Al-Khalid Tanks and the Sri Lankan commandoes trained by the Pakistani SSG that finally wiped out the LTTE for good.

Bangladesh is not going to fall for Indian military hardware.

You are right, but look who first started the derailment. Anyway, this topic is not about Sri Lanka, LTTE or Pakistan's contributions to wipe out that menace. Please practice what you preach.

Bangladesh's issues with India are bilateral and do not affect Pakistan in ANY WAY. So bringing brotherhood etc. was uncalled for, especially without verifying both sides of the story. And you don't seem to have any idea on India's history with Nepal or Bhutan, so that is not a valid comment.

listen to your own advice.

People never follow what they say :woot: and always have excuse to justify their words :D

I personally believes that the only reason that saves BDR from getting iron fist from our side is GoI's will to have better relationship with BD...

Remember will BD also cooperate with us on cross border insurgency.
this is not a one sided thing. We Should try to reciprocate as much if not more that they do for us.

1 hurt as BDR, BSF trade 2000 rounds

Tue, Jun 15th, 2010 8:05 pm

Sylhet, June 15 (bdnews24.com)– At least one person was injured as Bangladesh and Indian border forces exchanged 2000 rounds of gunfire on Tuesday at Tamabil border at Jaintapur Upazila in Sylhet.

BDR says a Bangladeshi, Abdul Jalil, 35, was injured in the gunfight and is now admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Locals, however, said three persons, including Jalil, received bullet injuries.

Of two others, one was identified as Khokon Miah while the other's name could not be ascertained immediately.

Both were admitted to Jaintapur Upazila Health Complex.

21 Rifles Battalion commander Lt Col Khandaker Zahirul Alam said some 50-60 people from the Khasia community entered some 300 yards into Bangladesh territory at Naljuri of Sripur border at around 11:30am to cultivate lands.

"We obstructed them but they defied us and were continuing with their farming," he said.

He said they hoisted red flag at the time.

BSF opened fires from Indian territory and BDR retaliated, the official said.

The gunfire continued for one hour from 12 noon.

Alam said the Khasia people had also entered into the Bangladesh territory on Monday with the help of BSF and cultivated land with tractor.

BDR protested it but they did not take it into account, he added.

A flag meeting is supposed to be held on Wednesday.

BDR does have a pair or more after all ! Shooting is the language the BSF understands. The foreign ministry should summon the Indian High Commissioner and lecture that fellow about good neighbor practices.

The article presented by TS is one sided....read the other half...and try to understand how the firing started and who started it first...

Woman injured in BSF-BDR exchange of fire

SHILLONG, June 15 – One woman was injured (Indian casualty missed by the thread starter)when the Border Security Force (BSF) and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) today exchanged fire in three different areas along the Indo-Bangla border in the Jaintia Hills sector in Meghalaya.

Sari Nonglamin of Amdoh village received bullet injury on her leg during the exchange of fire. The injured woman is a lower primary school teacher.

The first exchange of firing began at around 9.30 am in Muktapur village, followed by subsequent firing at Naljuri and Jaliakhola around 11 am, official sources said. The exchange of fire lasted for several hours.

Trouble started yesterday when BDR objected to Indian villagers cultivating in their land, claiming the land as Bangladesh territory. BDR also hoisted red flags to stop the villagers from cultivating. They later opened fire to scare away the villagers. The BSF responded by firing back.
“The BDR resorted to firing to scare us from cultivating in our own land”, the village headman of Muktapur, Manoj Manar said.

Panic-stricken border villagers, meanwhile, have shifted to safer grounds following today’s incident. “The situation is tense. Most of the people, especially women and children, have moved to safer grounds after the gunfire”, Manar said.

Muktapur, Jaliakhola and Naljuri is about 20 km east of Pyrdiwah village, which was occupied by the BDR in 2001 for days, claiming it to be a part of Bangladesh, before they were forced to retreat.

There were several exchange of fire between the BSF and BDR this year due to claim and counter-claim of land by both countries.

Union Home Secretary GK Pillai during his recent visit here said the joint boundary working group of India and Bangladesh would meet during July or August to resolve all the boundary disputes between the neighbouring countries.

Of the 4,098-km-long border shared between India and Bangladesh, Meghalaya shares a 443-km border, part of which is porous, hilly and unfenced.

At present there is 551.80 acres of Bangladesh land under adverse possession of India, while 226.81 acres of Indian land is under adverse possession of Bangladesh. There are 11 such areas of dispute in the Meghalaya sector. Source: Assam tribune

Why didn't Pakistan accepted the creation of Bangladesh before losing the war in just 13 days??? Even after getting support from Uncle Sam :usflag:

what support??? LoL

they sent a warship, and it was more of a move against soviets.

and if you indians didnt have so much air in your thick saffron skulls, you would have noticed that i implied a certain amount of regret over the turbulent history, but that history shall remain exactly that.

Pakistanis are famous for giving good hospitality to our guests, but also never forgiving our enemies. And in this context, you should always remember that.

and this has nothing to do with polarizing a debate. I offered (on behalf of every Pakistani) solidarity to Bangladesh. All of a sudden, you become emotional and start crying and making drama-- which is the only thing you indians are good at doing.

i condemn the indian aggression, and being that this is a forum, I am free to express myself however I damn please. If you dont like my post, then you can proceed to hell.

BDR is a dangerous anti-national (BD) element. They killed 70 high ranking BD Army officials and BDR chief himself just previous. These guys are quite frustrated! People of BD still wants justice. I guess those murders still killing people on border.

Lets take a look at the Interview of former BSF jawan, Amrik Singh Tank faced:

CNN-IBN has access to the December 2008 conversation between a Canadian visa officer and a former BSF jawan, Amrik Singh Tank , who was denied a visa.
AS Tank's visa interview transcript:
Visa officer: Where have you served?
AS Tank: Amritsar, Bangladesh, J&K, Tripura, Bandipura, Gurdaspur.
Visa officer: What were your duties?
AS Tank: I had guard duties. If someone sneaked in, we reported it to our senior officers.
Visa officer: Did your duties include questioning detainees?
AS Tank: I took basic information like name(s). Later, I got promoted and did border patrolling.
Visa officer: Were you involved in Operation Blue Star?
AS Tank: No.
Visa officer: Were you involved in counter insurgency in J&K?
AS Tank: No (Tank was posted at Srinagar HQs between 1991-1996).
Visa officer: That’s hard to believe. 400,000 troops were posted in Kashmir at the time.
AS Tank: Our duties were to protect our senior officers.
Visa officer: Did you ever kill any militants?
AS Tank: No.
Visa officer: Did you torture any suspects?
AS Tank: No.
Visa officer: Did you see suspects being tortured?
AS Tank: No.

This glory solely belongs to BSF and duly certifies it as an institution that should be prosecuted for War Crimes. No wonder Canadians are not willingly to let loose a psychopath amongst their peaceful citizens.

BDR is not known to have commited such heinous crimes.

BDR is not known to have commited such heinous crimes.

Whether BSF men get the visa or not...If any of ur people sneak into india's territory they will teach u a lesson..we have fenced the border...there is no way that ur people accidentally cross the border..

^^^forget it man..its BDR which did not even spare pregnant women and infants...women were killed and raped by them and then killed...and here these BD members are telling us about the BSF.

The brave BSF, under fire hides behind that poor woman. She has more ba*ls than the local BSF Jawans.

These BSF thugs routinely torture freedom seeking unarmed men, women and children.

When faced with guns they hightailed behind that woman and after their mortal fear subsided, probably tortured her for not providing adequate protection.

Canadian got a big slap for that!!! And apologized! You don't bring Canada!!! You don't fall on their category!!!

BDR is not known to have commited such heinous crimes.

I have seen BD Army soldiers crying and seeking for revenge against BDR. A force that kill its own chief and army officers is quite frustrated. They can do everything.

What BDR did in 2009.....
