Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj while addressing a press conference on Sunday said India will not protest Pakistan's entry to the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).

"We are not opposed to any country’s entrance into NSG based on merit, including Pakistan," Swaraj said, according to Indian media.

Swaraj also clarified that China is not opposed to India's membership of the NSG, amid reports of Indian Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar's 'unannounced' visit to China last week to woo Beijing's support for entry to the NSG.

According to The Hindustan Times, Swaraj said China is only discussing the criteria procedure.

"I am hopeful we will be able to convince China as well [over India’s NSG membership bid], I am in contact with 23 nations; one or two raised concern but I think there is consensus," Swaraj said. "We are trying to ensure that India becomes a member of NSG by the end of this year."

India has decided, with the help of state governments and cabinet ministers, to reach out to almost all countries in the world by the end of 2016, Swaraj said.

Yes we do believe that .India ever since Pakistan came into existence has tried to nail down Pakistan in every way possible ,bunch of lies as India did in 1948 for Kashmir coming back from Kashmir was a big mistake by Pak planners .Pak should never trust India in any way possible .

Indian smart move to gain Chinese and Turkish vote. Now if only Pakistani diplomats understand this move.

Looks like the Chinese squeeze is working.

India concern is its future energy need...its simple...its economy, no growing economy means no money means no nation.

I think its really really good move, why India should oppose, let the 48 nation decide pakistan faith in NSG group.
China want pakistan to be in SG group ok fair enough try your best....

But India himself isnt the member of NSG and they have no say in giving NSG membership to any country. So this well wisher attitude is useless.

Are baba! too main kab bol raha mu india is deciding no or yes for you, Our point is that we have no issue for pakistan inclusion in NSG....

Pakistan also not against NSG membership of any other country. Pakistan only demanding for non discriminatory policy on giving NSG membership to NTP and non NTP signatory countries.
Yes, that is what India is saying, you take whoever you want....what india has to do with it....we want to be part of the group because we have huge energy need....if they think pakistan should be part of group...good for us

Mazak name karo yaar. You know the truth.
By the way Pakistan also has no issue in NSG membership of any country , whether is it India , Somalia or Rwanda. Let NSG decide it.

Its a miss stroke not the master stroke.
India Pakistan NSG rivalry is a known fact. Don't consider NSG members as idiots.
It's the place where you can sell or buy nuclear fuel and technology for your civil need, what it has to do with India Pakistan rivalry
