Lao people prefer sticky rice ;)
Huh.....are the girls there sticky as well?:P lol

ahahahaha....impressed to see small Vietnam was the one who even put its puppet Hun sen in power. I never knew that, i just knew Vietnam invaded Cambodia and Laos and threatened/made incursions into Thailand back then. Didn't know it was Vietnam who put the current Cambodian president in power. That means this Hun sen dictator guy has been in power now for over 2 decades?. :o:

Impressive for such a small country to be exerting such influence in its neighbourhood. Seems Vietnam is playing big power games that's above even its status/weight. I'm impressed:)
Considering both China and Soviet offered Vietnam huge amount of military aid, and US left lots of weapons when they retreated from Vietnam. You wouldn't be surprised how ambitious the Vietnamese were right after they united their country at a thunder speed.

Vietnam called itself as "the third military power in the world". With such ego and ambition, it's inevitable for Vietnamese to walk on the way of expansion. Now you know how dangerous Vietnam actually was at that time. People should re-estimate how important the China's role was back then when China extinguished Vietnamese's expansion desire by war.

People always blame China's support on Pal Pot. Few people realize Pal Pot was the only choice who dare resist Vietnamese's invasion to Cambodia. It's Vietnam who should be blamed.

True, but then again, do you blame them??I'm not blaming them at all.Thats all part of geo politics man, they do all they can to further/protect their interests. So noissue/problem there. For them to be ambitious is not actually a bad thing, every power should be ambitious. Just like your Russian buddy are ambitious as well, i dont blame them either aputin is only furthering his country's interests by all means necessary. It just so happens that his interests conflicts with ours, So we have to also respond. if not for the fact that putins interests doesnt match with ours, we wouldnt care about his actions at all.lol. So as you can see each power looks after its interests no matter what, the end justifies the means.

You say Vietnam desires of war was exstinguished by China throught he 1979 war, true, but not entirely, since China failed to achieve its main aim which was to make the Vietnamese pulled out of Cambodia and laos, and stop threatening Thailand. The Stubborn Vietnamese not only contniue ruling/cementing their control of Cambodia and laos but kept making incursions into Thailand chasing khmer fighters, while China was forced to withdraw after just a coupe of weeks inside Vietnam due to heavy fighting/resistance. China at least achieved one aim though, which was to show others that the Soviet Union wont intervene in support of it ally Vietnam(this was also due to the U.S presence/warning against any such moves). So in all i will say the Vietnamese were quite good in this game and strong as well.
Since i would have thought China bordering Laos and being close to Cambodia could easilly send troops to cambodia via Laos to repel any Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia, afterall, China is far bigger/populous etc. If a big power can't assert influence in its own immediate nieghborhood, then it's indeed kind of worrying(forget about the world).

So in short you cant blame Vietnam for doing what was in the best interests of their nation.:bounce:

Oh my imperialistic brother.....LOL!!!!

#imperialbrotherhood
We r pushed to do it. During 60s, chairman Mao asked VN leader about Laos pplation. When he knew its just 3 million pple, he told our leader that he would send Cnese peasant there.

So, we had to send Vnese to Laos before chairman Mao could start his plan.

I also dont know much about Vnese in Laos-Kam during French time.

All I know is that Vnese is the smartest pple in IndoChina, so French sent VN officers to Laos-Kam to help them control & expand the region( Laos took some lands from Thai during French colonial time)

haha, Korean eh? Yea, both of them have very full lips. Xi looked really different when he was younger. Now he looks like ...yea....no comment.

No offense, bro, but Xi doesn't have the swagger of Abe. ;)

Our Vietnamese friends here are still whining China grabbed SCS islands from Vietnam by force. If any country can do anything at the excuse of nation interest. Things will turn easy.

As for the 1979 war, China had made it clear that the war was a war of punishment before China started the war. China didn't intend to occupy Vietnam's land. Don't overestimate Vietnamese performance in the war. They just hided themselves in the caves and shot and everything. Pretty much like how Japanese did in the Battle of Okinawa. US troops suffered big casualty in battle too. The Sino-Vietnam war lasted 10 years, which exhausted all the energy of Vietnam(as well as Soviet Union). So China did stop Vietnam's expansion by long term strategy.

ok Viet folks stop making a fool out of yourself. Vietnam is small poor backward country, not imperialist shhiit. The age of empire is over. Stop boasting like Chinese, be humble, dont school in Vietnam teach you kids how struggle Vietnam fight for independent for past 100 years? try to get your country gdp per cap past 3000 then start boasting.

He's fluent even in Vietnamese? Haha, interesting. Hun Sen , truly, is a Vietnamese sanctioned leader of Cambodia.

:)

If there is no Hun Sen presented in video clip, I do think that there is Vietnamese speaking with southerner Vietnamese accent.

My fiend who is an VN Army now, he told me that: recently Mr. Tia Banh visited Hanoi unofficially, he has requested that he would like to have breakfast in the restaurant called " Quán Cháo Chửi" in Hanoi. where is very few Hanoian could know it and could have breakfast there.

Vietnam doesn't do any sanction about leadership in Laos and Cambodia, let they do it by themselves.

China is allied with USA in cold war. It is clear.

our link to the French is still strong. you can see french footprints in the colonical buildings, food (banh mi), political administration (saigon is divided into quarters like paris), life style, or simply the West. here is what the French Ambassador to Vietnam thinks about Vietnam.

French Ambassador always had ‘magical connection' with VN - News VietNamNet

Mao can pass for a Tai Kadai or Bai Yue peopl; he has Austroasiatic phenotype. Probably because he's from Yunnan.
