What's new

What would a PTI led Pakistan look like?

Would have been a complete mess. For starters, the PTI would have still had its opportunists on board who are of the same crop as those in all the other parties and hence the mismanagement and corruption would continue even as certain good economic policies might have been enacted. IK would have had to constantly compromise and essentially lose most credibility that he would bring with him. He may have improved relations with the British but would have ruined those with the Americans. The Taliban would literally have a free hand in FATA and they would gradually force themselves upon the rest of the country via self implementation of Draconian laws ala Lal Masjid with which IK would have been helpless as well. A massive military operation would have then had to begin to clean up such a mess that would make Zarb-e-Azb look like a minor skirmish.

In other words, PTI was not ready and they knew it back then as well. What was important was to know who is really loyal and who is not; as current events show.. the opportunists have jumped ship again.

Oscar - I am IMPRESSED man. You said everything that makes sense, and which I would've said. But either way, it would have found serious resistance from the IK loving fans on here, who have no regard for the entire country but JUST IK and his shenanigans!! A cricketer can't run a country, running a game as a captain is an autocratic management system. In a democracy, you have to work with many people, learn to give and take. He just knows to either take, threaten other and then use force, like we've seen last year.

I have 0 actual reason to be getting involved here, but out of courtesy to Pakistan, IMO, the best you had (whatever that means to different people obviously), is already working. There are a LOT of changes that the current government has, and is bringing about which will take Pakistan ahead of its past 70 years. So if my suggestion, to forget about your own dividing factors like IK vs. NS vs. others, the system is progressing and the country is moving forward, support the good work, work hard, peacefully and allow your nation to become something like a South Korea or Turkey one day. Learn from the Indians, no matter how much they hate their politicians, their country comes first and they'll always praise whoever is doing the good work as its the country who people read about on here and see these nice posts, etc. Creates a great image about India. Its the opposite with Pakistanis and needs to change.

Completely agreed, we need honest and dedicated leaders like Shehan Shah e Azam Nawaz Sharif and Hazrat Asif Ali Zardari. Look at the amazing job they have done in building the country, they have removed corruption and nepotism from the face of Pakistan. The country is growing at an annual rate of 10%, inflation has been reduced to 2% and load-shedding has also been eliminated. The Naysayers are just a bunch of country hating illiterate morons.

We need more leaders who have the integrity of Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif, after all that's the way forward. Sindh and Punjab are examples of prosperous provinces, they put Denmark to shame in terms of their prosperity especially Sindh.

Be-careful Sir you might piss off Shehan Shah e Azam's and Hazrat's die hard supports here :D

Not to sound pessimist but how much improvement have been done to KPK province under PTI can give you some idea BUT you can argue that PTI need more TIME and RESOURCES.
Yeah right, almost all development projects are stopped, destruction of all most all front line property without giving dates or collecting that stuff back up, Mardan complex, Mardan hospital rebuilding has been stopped, other then USAID projects came in ANP, all others are stopped, China still waiting to resume their mining projects, almost all consuinles development work started in ANP times, and they give temporary places, yet to be restored after two years, and all cities are like counaile less, still bribe is good tool in patwar khanna, and many even government lands has been moved into many societies name, roads pathetic, dust gone wild at Mardan, swat and Peshawar, because no cleanup activities from government . beautiful dirty canals

And I am at Mardan right now, need any proof I can provide proof anyone needs,

one thing is for sure . the institution should be stronger and will be given free hand .

PTI led Pakistan will look like: depoliticised institutions and contradictory statements

I'm not sure, he would certainly ruin our relations with some western countries. Don't know whether its a good or a bad thing. Corruption probably would decrease a bit.

They are failing to use properly whatever is available let alone facing shortage. 75% of development budget remains utilized and most of the development projects are confined to just Peshawar.

Has anyone ever actually thought what would happen if PTI won the elections and took control?

How would the world perceive Imran as PM? Would it drive in more trade and investment?

Or does Nawaz have more connections in the business world and Imran would simply be ignored and Pakistan would become even poorer under PTI.

Well we know how organized the party is, any of their jalsa's is evidence of that. Their supporters will be at each other's throats for a plate of Biryani or a piece of Cake, anarchy will be the call of the day and nothing will be under anybody's control. It will be a prime time for the establishment to again invite itself to reign in the madness.

@Fracker and @SBD-3

Both of you missed my sarcasm in the post... but lets take PTI out for a moment who do you see in the horizon in KPK to lead (get votes) in next election and eliminate the corruption and lack of development progress etc you have mentioned?

That would only Work if good people are running those institutions. I dont think we have many of those in Pakistan right now so giving free hand to institution in current condition of our Bureaucracy would be Disaster.

does not have experience, or have people who can counsel him during initial period. He might not be disaster but a massive punt. (not a typo you imran haters.. :) )

ANP is known for corruption, they started projected only once they saw their fall in invadeable, they are the main reason KPK even getting highest foreign revenue and handsome budget vs population is still far behind PPP is one of the most corrupt party of KPK, their stories of corruption is known to every Pathan. Same case for JI whose represented used to come on cycle while asking for votes in 2002 election but then turned into Prado owners, maulana diesel don't need any introduction in this regards, PML-N in KPK is still untested like in past PTI was. But I also don't have much high hopes for them.

From past three elections, KPK government has been shappen by IND, who use their seat as some business.

Now PTI is not untested anymore, they wanted a chance they got one and they turned out of same as other. For me it was obvious even before election, when packs of corrupt politician joined PTI and they was declared clean.
