The best you can hope for or aspire to is to be the richest of the not-rich.

Does that make you feel better?

The average worker at Morgan Stanley makes $200k/year. Upper manegement makes millions, they all work for the CEO. Doctors in a hospital make 250k+/year with senior specialists making 2$ million/year. They too work for the hospital, so you can become rich working under others.

Since you are trying to impress me with dollar salaries, compare those with what geeks selling off their start-ups to corporate giants make. Sometimes more than once in a lifetime. Many of them college dropouts.

Overall, compensation at Morgan Stanley fell 4% to an average pay of nearly $274,000 per employee.

Except there are a lot less people that get rich off start up then do from working under others. The amount isn't what's in focus, it's that most upper class people haven't gotten rich by opening companies.

I disagree.

You are defining "rich" like any middle class man would.

The really rich, employ dozens of "millionaires" to work for them.

LOL, they never pay that much in India.

I have plans for MS in US, so this job experience might get me into Morgan Stanley post my MS

What uni? If you don't have a Bcomm/MBA from an Ivy league uni, u can't get a job at the investment banks. At my uni, one of the best in the world, they only accept 2 people a year amongst all the investment banks, just 2!

I know Goldman Sachs / Morgan Stanley / JP Morgan etc take people from the best here even in India i.e IITs or IIMs

However, there is another way to join them. When i worked in EY , we would get Goldman Sachs / Morgan Stanley / JP Morgan as audit clients and if we performed well, over a period of time, they try to pull you in.

I am planning for MS in InfoSec in a top US universities, get back to big 4 and then try these banks :)

The people you are referring to are called the super rich, not simply upper class.

like doppelganger says, you are splitting hairs, because you want to justify your middle-class existence.

morgan stanley is a hated organization... hated by those ( esp. americans ) who see it as a blood-sucker, making artificial money through unjust means.

Doctors in a hospital make 250k+/year with senior specialists making 2$ million/year. They too work for the hospital, so you can become rich working under others.

so medicine should be gotten into for the sake of money??
