Article 370 : A debate

This thread is created to debate the pro's and con's of the Article 370. I got an idea for this thread with my debate with @The_Showstopper in another thread. I want people to put forward their views for and against the Article

My views are that it is not required and it should be scrapped immediately. The reasons are as follows

1 India considers Kashmir as an integral part of the country. If that is so why the need of this article to ascertain the same

2 The Kashmir region will be able to get the benefits of all the policies of the govt of India. At present none of the policies like RTI, RTE NAREGA, etc are automatically applicable for Kashmir just because of this article. Special provisions have to be made to make the policies applicable

3 The removal of Article 370 will lead to greater development of the region. The investments will be able to flow smmothly in the region and people will setup business there. This will increase the economic prosperity of the region

4 The removal of this article and the subsequent economic development will also lead to reduction in the militancy. Why will a person pick up a gun when he has the option of getting a good job and earning his livelihood. All this will lead to peace and prosperity in the region

Its not for us but Kashmiris to decide if they want to remove article 370. So i will not vote.

If all Kashmiris agree it should be done but I doubt they will agree. Even non Muslim Kashmiris like Dogras of Jammu want to maintain article 370. For some cultural continuity is more important then rapid development.

I know only one thing that kashmiris and every INDIAN has potential to do great work & everyone should get equal opportunities. Kashmir of india or Kashmir of Pakistan this fight will do nothing but will destroy that heavenly Kashmir . #risekashmir

I have voted for Yes, kashmir is for kashmiri, no doubt about it.
But Kashmiri land belongs to India and so the peoples of that land belong to India and If anybody has objection, he can choose another piece of land for him to live.

There is an NDTV interview of Sunanda Pushkar discussing article 370 from a Kashmiri woman's point of view. I suggest everybody watch it. It should be scrapped, simply for the sake of gender equality.

At current state with article 370, IoK is somewhat acceptable for Pakistanis. Otherwise Indians will have to pay heavy price if they decide to remove art 370 on their own.

Do elaborate what the "heavy price" would be.

Your post does not make any sense as expected. Land belong to people not artificial state like Hindustan. Say this to Kashmiri IRF and expect nothing less then broken nose in return.

The only ones who don't want the ARTICLE to be revoked is those who don't want J&K to prosper.

Scrap it immediately and eliminate dynastic ruling from there.

Heavy price can be purifcation of Hindustan up to Taj Mahal.

On one hand you say that if the matter is solved between India and Kashmir, you wouldn't really want to interfere yet you come back with a different set of view... Why are you contradicting yourself?

True, if kashmiris decide to become Indians then we will not care. And by that i mean real kashmiris and not Nepalis who pose as Kashmiris on this forum.

Article 370 need to go step by step ..Remove it from laddak and jammu ..There will be development as well as new influx of people ..Situation will change for better ..If you know how democracy works it will open a lot of options ...
