so there is a library in women's college.

This issue has been blown out of proportion. There's already a library in the women's college. Why do they want to come to the main library which cannot even accommodate the present lot of students?

All books are available on-line. The girls just need to select and hit the 'enter' button and the book would be sent to them.

So WTF is the problem? The media loves to flog dead horses for TRP ratings.

And yes! Where girls are, can the boys be far away? (For example, most males attend church not for the love of the Lord but to have a peek at the pretty ladies who attend! ) So what's the big deal? It's a fact of life!

Bottom line: Our Indian media sucks!

Most general courses can also be taken online. There is no real 'need' for attending classes either. This will also help guys to stay focused. The Woman's library can be made into a Community Center for the benefit of the male students once the females are barred there too.

As for the 'General' Library, it was built long long ago, hence it is in a word - HUGE. Most of the time it stays empty anyway.

i am a karnataka muslim but at least bangalore "muslims" are far far away from being tipu admirers... they actually are ideological children of the deoband mullahs that the british created to counter any future leader like tipu... there is one deobandi/tableeghi type from india on this forum... guess who...

but i agree with seiko... the issue of this thread is not tipu, technically...

there is no need for a library nowadays... what is really needed in amu is a calcutta-style adda where amu students... male and female... can talk about politics over tea... but that can be brought only by the students... and if the students are mullahs-burqas, better it is to demolish amu...

There was another incident where a congress contestant from J&K who submitted a document saying his unmarrired daughter is a liability. This whole mess is being reported as chauvinist attitude. Words like taliban are reserved for only Hindus.

Indian Secularism is Pseudo Secularism. The UP sarkar is Epitome of Indian Secularism. Therefore, BJP sarkar can't do anything. It would be considered as an attack on Indian Secularism + going to break India's social fabric.

sigh... i knew that case in 2011... and "honor killing" is actually against islam... a muslim lady selects her own man... no one can raise objections to that... but many modern south asian "muslims" have adopted hinduism... hint, hint...

Even i know among my arab friends there is no such thing and if a woman marries into another sect etc. she is shot dead.
honor killing is rife in arab nations you can see many cases of it in UK where the girl was beheaded etc.

I have seen BJP and other so called nationalistic groups making issues out of small things.. Instead of beating people around and morale policing, why cant they just raise their voice against these kind of things?

Such a dumb decision. The Aligarh Muslim university is following the detrimental policies of Khomeni. We need to give up our fanaticism. Women were much more free during the time of Prophet Muhammed. Even the head scarf was made only for women who had difficulty with males eyes wandering everywhere.

It proves that the fanatical gene is present in not only us Pakistani Muslims but muslims everywhere. Ijtehad is the next logical step forward, but free thinking or critical and objective thought have been blocked by our institutions. We are used to think like robots about the ummah and everything else. Even our history was built on policies which we now fail to understand. Islamic Secularism and protection of minorities marked our rulers.

Today we are all led by a bunch of jackals. It is sad to notice what we once were and what we have now become.
