China’s Uighur Unrest Is Opportunity for Afghans

People are carrying on as if the government currently in power in Kabul is representing the whole of Afghanistan. The reality is that Afghanistan is mainly under Taliban rule and in the near future the Taliban will probably overrun Kabul as well (if the mistakes of 1990's are not repeated). What puny power the Kabul government has is irrelevant once the US leaves and it is unlikely that the US will attempt to re-invade. And once the Taliban are in power all their policies will be the opposite of what the US wants.

It goes both way, they are doing back to you what you have been doing to them for over 20 years. I think things will get worse after December, and if things dont improve by 2016 when the residual US forces are scheduled to leave Afghanistan (unless they again extend their stay) it might get worse still, maybe war one day.

I dont understand why the two country's dont come to a compromise over territory disputes. Why doesnt Pakistan just cede the so-called FATA back to Afghanistan in exchange for Afghanistan recognizing the rest of the border with Pakistan? That would save Pakistan's government the trouble of having to take responsibility for tribal lands that it does not control and has not been able to integrate while giving the local people unification with their tribal kin on the other side of the border but forcing Kabul and US forces to take full responsibility over this region and the question of permanently eliminating its terrorist infrastructure.

Although I am an Indian and i should technically be happy with your proposition...But honestly i defer to your point of view.
Before blaming Pakistan and rest of the world for the unrest, Afganistan has to look into themselves...Do all of the entire nation feel like they are part of the nation?...They have to more sensible..They have to take initiative to bring their country from disaster what it is right now to a normal country....

And regarding giving FATA to Afganistan, it will be suicidal for entire South Asia...FATA and Tribal areas are a country within a country...The militant element withing those triabal areas operate independently....At lest if they are in Pakistan, Pakistan has the might and force and capacity to attack those militants and flush them out, but if it is handed over to Afganistan, it will be nursery of jihadi militant leader through out the world because Afganistan does not have the capacity to control and rein over them...

I dont need to prove anything to you. Everybody already knows the history of Pakistani duplicity and belligerence in Afghanistan and that history is universally known and accepted. Bury your head in the ground if you want, i dont care.

Can you please enlighten us what are the areas where Iran is involved in economic activity with Afganistan...Because India is also actively engaged with Afganistan for economic development of Afganistan in different ways..

If hosting almost 2 million Afghan refugees for 3 decades and helping them repel a foreign aggression is duplicity then i don't know what kindness is. You don't have to prove anything..............you know why? because YOU DON'T KNOW JACK.

But the US isnt leaving. Earlier this year the US and Afghanistan signed a security agreement to keep a residual US force there until the end of 2016, with the option of revising this agreement and keeping an American force there in perpetuity which could easily happen now that the Republicans have taken control of the US senate. The US army has already been talking about it too, see below. Taliban and their supporters better get used to the fact that America wont be going away any time soon.

"Campbell declined to prejudge the outcome of his review and whether it would recommend that U.S. troops stay beyond 2016, the timeline that Obama has set. Campbell said his advice would go through his chain of command."

The problem with FATA isnt the ordinary people that live there, its that the territory is a political anomaly which has an unnatural border drawn down the middle of Afghan tribal territory that people from both sides dont accept. This border has prevented the US and Afghanistan from being able to destroy terrorist safe havens there. Returning it to Afghanistan would make the whole area accessible for a single military sweep by the US and Afghan forces, and would relieve Pakistan of this responsibility which it never wanted to do in the first place. Pakistan was both bribed and pressured to launch military operations there, it didnt do it by choice.

I dont have a complete answer to that. Herat's economy is strongly attached to Iran and there is Iranian economic activity in many other cities, including Kabul. Iran has been involved in different things like roads, electricity, water, education and media, among other things.

The irony of this!

The Taliban should just go ahead and create a parallel government and try to attain legitimacy and then slowly marginalize the Kabul government.

Afghanis/Iranis can come and fight for their land. Look how far Pakistan has gone to get back whole occupied Kashmir back from 7 times bigger enemy.

They've already been trying that for years.

We dont have any territorial dispute with Pakistan. Only Afghanistan does.
Yes how ironic that i expected sensibility from some one, whose country fought a 10 years old war with it's neighboring state over trivial causes.
Huh? Learn what the word irony means, bozo

There is no territorial dispute with Afghanis, they will have to invade to get back the land. Good luck.

Ironic.
paradoxical, absurd, contradictory, puzzling, baffling, ambiguous, inconsistent, confounding, enigmatic, illogical, incongruous.
Do yourself a favor and quit embarrassing your self. A word of advise don't try to think too hard to get back at me, because it will strain the already dwindling neurons in your puny brain..
Note to self: Don't argue with the stupid, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with stupidity.
Guess what? you won! Congrats, ROFL.

They dont recognize the border, that means, there is a dispute.

Thanks for proving that you didnt know what the word irony means nor do you know how to use this word, even now after having to look it up!

Now piss off.
