A local news publication, the Pamir Times, said this is the longest protest in the territory’s history. It reported that Gilgit's shops and roads had been closed for two days by the strike.

You really have to ask? As for the protests yes the people of Gilgit-Baltistan have the right to protest. They should have been incorporated fully into Pakistan as its fifth province.

yeah whats wrong with commies, I see them as having an ideology which they fight for, as long as they participate in democratic process, they are same as any other pressure/special interest group.
Western society is richer by implementing some of the socialist ideas that came from same group.

گلگت( پ ر) گلگت بلتستان میں آٹھ روز سے جاری دھرنوں نے تمام طبقات کو شدیدمتاثر کردیا ہے اور صوبے بھر کی عوام نے اس صورتحال کو اپنے لیئے ایک عذاب قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ خودغرض عناصر نے اپنے مخصوص ایجنڈے کی تکمیل کے لیئے تمام عوام کا جینا دوبھر کر دیا ہے۔
حیات پبلک سکول کی طالبہ سدرہ نے کہا کہ مسلسل دھرنوں کے باعث اس کی تعلیم بری طرح متاثر ہورہی ہے کیونکہ سکولوں کی بندش کے باعث طلبا کی تعلیم کا حرج ہو رہا ہے اور ان کا قیمتی تعلیمی سال اس طرح سے شدید متاثر ہونے کا اندیشہ ہے۔ سدرا کی والدہ جو اسے سکول میں چھوڑنے آئی ہوئی تھیں انکا کہنا تھا کہ انہیں ہر دم پریشانی رہتی ہے کہ ان کے بچوں اور دیگر طلبا کے مستقبل کا کیا ہوگا اور ان طلبا کا کیا قصور ہے جو ان ہڑتالوں کے باعث متاثر ہوتے ہیں۔ بار بار سکولوں کی بندش کی وجہ سے انکی بیٹی کی پڑھائی بہت متاثر ہو رہی ہے۔

ضلع دیامر سے تعلق رکھنے والے 46سالہ عبدلحٰئی نے کہا کہ وہ گردے کے مرض کا شکار ہیں اور انہیں معمول کے طبی چیک اپ کے لیئے گلگت آنا پڑتا ہے مگر ہڑتال کے باعث وہ اپنا معائینہ نہیں کر واسکے۔ انکا کہنا تھا کہ دھرنے عوام کے مسائل کے حل کے لیئے نہیں بلکہ اور زیادہ مشکلات پیدا کرنے کا سبب بن رہے ہیں اور اگر ان لوگوں کو مریضوں ، شیر خوار بچوں اور خواتین کی حقیقی تکالیف کا اندازہ ہو تو وہ کبھی سڑکیں بند کر کے عوام کو دشواریوں سے دوچار نہیں کرینگے۔ ادھر سی ٹی سکین کرانے کے لیئے آنے والے کئی مریضوں نے کہا کہ ہڑتالوں کے نتیجے میں انہیں ٹرانسپورٹ کے حصول اور ہسپتال جانے میں دقت کا سامنا کرنا پڑ رہا ہے اور تمام کام رکے ہوئے ہیں۔ ملک کے دوسرے شہروں میں زیر تعلیم طلبا نے دھرنے کی سخت مذمت کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ انہیں اپنے تعلیمی اداروں میں واپس جانے کے لیئے مشکلات کا سامنا ہے کیونکہ اس دھرنے کے نتیجے میں شاہراہ قراقرم بھی کئی دنوں سے بند ہے اور پنڈی جانے والی گاڑیوں کی سروس کئی دن سے تعطل کا شکار ہے۔

اس طرح کے دھرنوں سے عوام کو کوئی فائدہ نہیں ہو رہا اور ایکشن کمیٹی کو چاہیئے کہ عوامی تکالیف کا احساس کرتے ہوئے دھرنے ختم کرنے کا اعلان کر دیں۔
