C-130J crashes in Gwalior

How the FCUK do you crash a proven aircraft with 4 ENGINES in Peace time ? ......especially one that is designed to fly even with 1 Engine. ....... one that is designed to crash land and survive !!!!!!
like the C 130 Of Gen Zia Ul Haq crashed?

Stupid the primary argument was abt C-130j crash, and u came up with excuse that just because our r higher so they got crashed and we have a long land mass..........all this is yr excuse to cover up yr incompetence in maintaining something!
We got ours in early 60s and the first crash we got was in 98 which was due to maintenance problem. And u on the otherhand have a better and more powerful version then ours, still it got crashed in just a span of 2 years!!!

Talking about height PAF C130 somewhere in GB high above the mountains and everything else.

Not able to find, pl help....

The Indian Air Force (IAF) inducted its first C-130J-30 Super Hercules on 5 February 2011

First 7 C-130B delivered by the U.S. in early 1960s for PAF

For UK not sure but they operate more then 60 years

tell that to that duffer who thinks just because they r a bigger country and have air fields heigher then ours is the justification of their 130J (who happens to be the latest version on market and more powerful then ours) crash.

No need of that. We need to understand his position right now. ;)

This looks very very bad.

I saw on a news website that two planes were doing formation drops...and the witnesses were quoted as saying that the aircraft clipped a hill...

Maybe the crew got too low and bumped into the ground...

Investigations will clear it all up though...

RIP.

5 officers killed as IAF’s new showpiece Super Hercules crashes near Gwalior | The Indian Express

Damn! Very unfortunate incident. I guess substandard HAL overhauling and Russian spares cannot be given as reasons this time at least.

RIP to the dead.

HAL is not involved in C130J overhauls.... the maintenance is done by Base repair Depots IAF..... a thorough investigation should be conducted on this

Is there any FDR or any other device which have events etc? May help to find the cause. May help other countries operating C130 also

I actually cannot believe the level of stupidity this thread has seen.

Firstly these planes were bought by the IAF as dedicated Spec Ops platforms meaning they are going to, by nature, be undertaking the most extreme and risky flying ops in war (the IAF themselves said these were being procured so they could drop SOFs behind enemy lines which requires ridiculous flying from the air crew to evade radar and such) and for this they have to practice- this seems to have been a practice mission gone terribly wrong.

Low-level flight in any a/c is treacherous let alone a lumbering 4 engined stretched transporter, this isn't a jet fighter, flying this at low level is incredibly risky but it has to be done and practiced.

An inquiry will now be done and if there are lessons to be learnt they will be, we can't rule anything out at this point it could have been pilot error or some sort of technical fault or a one-off freak accident.

This is certainly a blow to the IAF 1/6th of their C-130J-30 fleet wiped out in a morning, no doubt they'll be getting 7 now as opposed to 6 for their follow-on that is being processed now...

For all those taking joy in this news- how sick do you have to be to revel in the DEATHS of human beings during a training mission? Being shot down in war is one thing but this is peacetime and this was a training mission.
