Planet Fitness kicked Muslim woman out for wearing head scarf

Then you know that the man is much hated.. and will only inspire hatred towards you. Moreover, he is known for religious bashing.. and insulting Islam.. which basically is an open statement by you that you wish to insult Islam.. in that case you will be banned from the forum. I suggest you change that display picture if you want to last here.

Where have I insulted anyone? Is quoting from Qur'an an insult? If I'm wrong then people who think I'm wrong should provide us with their own valid reasoning, asking you to silence me does nothing but proving my initial point.

You can clearly see some members really want to physically harm others, as it's implied by the way the post, so how did you conclude that my posts which are based on facts are offensive, but their threats of violence are not?

Your facts are your own distortions. And promoting insults to religion by twisting interpretations and using the picture of a man who ridicules the Prophet is not ok with me either. So either you remove the picture, or I will remove you.

Actually if this goes to court she will win because the rules of their gym have religious exception for head wear but they still kicked her out, that falls into discrimination the gym will probably agree to a settlement.

It depends on the judge, and competency of either side lawyers, but Planet Fitness had asked her to wear a cap, something she has refused.

They're definitely not my "distortions". I will not remove the avatar. A moderator on this forum is using an avatar of Hitler, a genocidal maniac now you want me to willingly change my avatar because your friends can't compete with me on an intellectual level?

Go on and remove me, you might actually be doing me a favor.

I dont see it. And you are removed on basis of religious insults.

Take many Internet Hindus( those that deride Islam everywhere and beat the false drum of Muslim Invaders).. why do they so vicifrously hate Islam?

Its due to a lack of self fulfilment in other spheres of life. Somewhere , the frustrations of life ended up being focused on particular individuals .. then to their creed.. their religion and so on. Then , like an escape such as drugs or otherwise.. this takes hold.
Im not saying we all dont indulge in this, I do.. I have seen you do it.. but the extent you ,I or anyone else does it shows the general sense of desperation in fulfilling a certain gap or negative experience that happened in one's life..

he was talking about aero with hitler's avatar

oWhy there is so much of noise...if she is not allowed in one gym go to another one...I have seen in US that citizen sometimes use some false cases against organizations to get money with suing the companies...It may happen to be that case too...
Otherwise..if she was not allowed then she could go to another gym...It is the right of gym people to deny permission...

A New Mexico woman is claiming Planet Fitness isn’t always ‘judgment free.’

The national budget-friendly gym chain promises members an atmosphere free of “gymtimidation.” But Tarainia McDaniel, a Muslim woman, says a gym in Albuquerque booted her out because she was wearing a head scarf.

The woman reportedly told staff at the gym that the head scarf was an essential part of her Muslim faith. In return, she was told to go find a baseball cap.

McDaniel is actually a Muslim convert. Growing up, her parents were Roman Catholic and Jehovah’s Witness, the ABQ Journal reports. The woman began practicing Islam when she was a 16-year-old student at Sidwell Friends School in the Washington, D.C. area.

Islam is now a big part of her identity. In fact, she’s raising her two kids as Muslims.

The 37-year-old woman didn’t expect any problems when she joined the gym on a two-year contract. McDaniel says she’s gone to another Planet Fitness in her area a number of times with her colorful head scarf on and never had a problem.

But on Oct. 3, 2011, staff members at the Irving Boulevard location tried to turn her away. She was told that the informal head covering she was wearing didn’t meet the gym’s dress code. McDaniel said she informed staff about her religious requirements and offered to come back wearing a more formal head covering known as the hijab.

The gym reportedly denied her requests.

McDaniel's civil lawsuit, filed under the New Mexico Human Rights Act and the Unfair Practices Act, alleges that Planet Fitness illegally based the decision to deny her access upon her religion, or alternatively upon her race — she is African-American — and that the gym had no legitimate reason to deny her entry.

Planet Fitness denies those claims.

The company’s attorney Erika Anderson said the head covering McDaniel was wearing violated the gym's dress code policy. Planet Fitness prohibits members from wearing “jeans, work boots, bandanas, skull caps or revealing apparel."

In a statement, the company said gyms take into account members' religious affiliations. "At Planet Fitness, our policy is, and has always been, that members are allowed to wear head scarves for religious reasons in our clubs," the company said.

"My client's position is that they didn't know the head covering was for religious purposes," Anderson said.

Anderson said she could not comment further on pending litigation.

During a deposition for the case, Anderson asked McDaniel if she told the gym that she was Muslim.

McDaniel replied, "I sure did."

Her case is scheduled for August.

Planet Fitness has drawn criticism this week for asking a woman was asked to cover up while working out at a Planet Fitness in Richmond, Calif., because her body was too intimidating to others at the gym.

A Planet Fitness spokesperson told the station that the company "strives to make everyone feel comfortable" and says the dress code is at the discretion of the staff and manager.
