This 1930 Time magazine cover image of Mahatma Gandhi

TIME Magazine Cover: Mahatma Gandhi - Mar. 31, 1930 - India - Philosophers - M.K. Gandhi - Revolutionaries

Gandhi once wrote a letter to his "dear friend" urging him not to go to war -- This friend was Hitler.

I have great respect for Mahatma Gandhi….But I hate the system which gives us a public holiday and makes it a dry day!

A person who is often targeted for his personal life and his faith and resolve on non-violence rather than his role in leading and uniting India against British Raj.

Kya yaar...main to mahino baad aaj peene ki soch raha tha.....kya yaad dila diya....kyun hai dry day aaj

Gandhi ji has a very prominent role in Indian independence. Rest in peace.

wahi na yar...shaadi, birthday etc are supposed to be happy events......ye dry day ke wajah se i fail to understand ki ye birth anniversary hai ya death... :-( ...by d way, I ve stocked up. ;)....it is not just 2 but 8 is also dry day...this is called as gandhi saptaha....in mumbai it is very difficult to get liquor when its dry day... :-(

Oh please.......... Gandhi is only seen by the side the Indians wish to see him, and many people I met in the West also saw him in the light he was portrayed by Indians and the like, however his true character and life has never been told properly or taught to people as it would put any civilised person to shame........ racist/fascist and many other labels would be a common title for Gandhi (and before the gauntlet of minions here decide to question that last part, I would be happy to bring forward quotes from his own memoirs) ......... this sort of thread should not be opened and I believe it is against forum rules also

sale darruon.. kabhi toh acche shabd bol do us mahatma ke liye.. pas peete hi rahge kya ? :P

arey dost...peete hai taaki ess bimari ko jad se ukhad sake...but the bimari is bit chronic to thoda time to lagega na.... ;)

@Direct To Gandhiji... Bapuji, u once said u like Christian religion but not christian people because they drink...but aaj kal to sale sab peete hai...but you know, I still love you because you had a real pure heart and you did well for us...

i still dont buy that you let it(PK) happen at their terms even if ppl try to convince me...I know they got a better deal (they got a muslin country and we got Muslims!)....but as you were the father of India..u took the decision that you felt was right at that point in time and i respect it....I love you Bapuji!

There are many people who question the character of jinnah, but lots of pakistanis have him as avatar. Should then not be banned. (apart from near idol worship of him)

That is the reason why it isnt allowed as shown in previous threads, comments inevitably end up in a pi55ing contest and results in insulting one anothers leaders. However facts must be spoken and if Indians think the dirt on Gandhi's collar is cleaned by their million mantra talking about his good deeds, then you are mistaken and his evil past cannot be ignored, especially and mostly of what he did and his beliefs towards black people whilst in South Africa..........
