So where does it stop? Should we stop azaan and praying five times a day because it is time consuming, and still call ourselves muslims?

My brother, we are an Islamic republic not a democracy.

Read some history kid.

Pakistan was founded as a secular democracy for Muslims in south Asia.

See the white Part in the Pakistani flag

The area that white part covers is actually the percentage of people in Pakistan who were non-muslim.

Jinnah modelled Pakistan on Attaturk turkey. A Secular modern democractic State.

This Islamic Republic was started by Zia when he started funding the jihad nonsense in Pakistan.

Kid. Go back to Grade 3.

Like I posted above my cousin does not fast because of his work yet he prays 5 times. I on the other hand fast everyday yet am only capable of praying 3-4 times because of my own responsibilities. So who is less of a Muslim here? If you even try to answer that question you are committing a sin because these types of things are supposed to be left to Allah.

That is the problem Pakistan today is neither. Some people in my opinion the far right of Pakistan want to act like it is an Islamic republic while the far left liberal tamashbeen want to act like it is a secular democracy.

As a Muslim - I do not mind people eating around me - I have friends of all religions and creeds - some of them become concerned as to the effect eating and drinking would have upon me. I always put them at ease, and tell them to eat their food, part of the spiritual part of Ramadan is controlling our base instincts.

This law should be repelled - and practicing Muslims will like they always do, bring their patience - nascent spirituality and ignore the food being consumed around them. :)

Rafi bhai, i don't mind people eating around me either when I'm at work here in NY. However, you would have to agree that is farz to keep roza if you are capable. It is part of the five pillars of Islam. If you were to eat in front of conservative Muslims in Pakistan, this could incite violence. We have to keep a balance in our nation.

Thank you Rafi that is exactly my point.

Raz you really think the police bothered to ask the reason as to why they were eating??

About Zia...he had a say in UNO which no Pakistan leader ever had and 72 heads of state came to his funeral..
72 heads of states wont come to the funeral of an idiot..

You must have edited your post brother as I didn't see it. Alright if that is your argument lets play.

It is common for people to show respect to people when they die regardless of how they felt about them in their life. No big deal there.

I noticed how he didn't answer your question. :coffee:

I will give you one last example, and if you don't understand then we can agree to disagree.

You say your cousin doesn't fast due to personal reasons. It is non of my business so ir would best to keep it personal rather than flaunt it like these latte drinking youths are.

It is equivalent to shouting outside of mosque on jumma and saying i can not pray because i have broken my leg.

Ok people tell me whose resolve and urge is stronger....

1.A rozadar muslim during Ramdan who daily pass by a eatery and gets temted by it so needs a legislation that people should not eat publicly.
2.A poor person who daily pass by eatery but has to control himself coz he has no money to eat at that eatery. And for that he doesnot need any legislation against the eatery.

You should read more insights from him. According to him Pakistani military generals drive ferraris around Pakistan. Lolz

Your point needs to include the third option.

A rozdar poor person who passrs daily by eatery to see tthe elites of country feasting by taking advantage of people like him.

I agree things should be kept personal but laws like this make religion state regulated which is a negative. As for the latte drinking youths they should be smacked upside the head but the problem is that there is really no way to tell the two groups apart. The cops in Pakistan have a bad reputation as it is so they probably just rounded up everyone.

I guess we both disagree and that is fine to each his own.
