What's new

Why the time for a China-India water treaty is now

Indians won't get thirsty, Pakistan and Bangladesh will. As I said earlier all the trans boundary rivers that originate in Tibet end in either Pakistan or Bangladesh.

Enough rain and snow to fuel Indus River... Tibet doesnt only fuel indus river it starts full breadth when it enters Pakistan by Hindu Kush and HimalAya snow. On top of then weather from Balochistan... We have nothing to fear from India

If you guys are starting to complain now, I wonder what's gonna happen later on?

Hell I doubt you even know what you're saying most of the time.

Here's a dedicated sub forum just for that reason.

That's probably the best idea in this thread.

China and India are rivals/enemies at this point (according to India's own defence minister), so the chances of a "Sino-Indian Water Treaty" are next to zero.

If the scenario above happens where India is no longer a party, that would make it much easier to come up with a Water Treaty based on the Yarlung Tsangpo. Since we could negotiate directly with Bangladesh and the new NE Union.

you have just opened doors for a troll war CD :disagree:

This problem has an easy solution. Independence of North East states. If this can be accomplished then there will be no common river between India and China. Then it will be a concern of China, North East states and Bangladesh to work out water management for common international rivers. So for peace and stability of the region and to avoid a water war between China and India, it will be better for Asia and the world to have an independent North East states.

how about another easy solution?

how about GOI and CPC talk on this issue and reach solution agreed by both parties? :coffee:

Indians, you reap what you sow. You have been taking Pakistani water for some time now ,don't be suprised if China does the same to you.:chilli: Also if India keeps taking our indus water, we will have to consult uncle China to redirect the water from there through northern Gilgit Baltistan----that way India will not even get a drop. Should it really go to this or is India going to act like a Human being. I don't think Indian can, and sooner or later, you Indians will be begging at Chinas feet, and that time, your pleas won't be heard.

sadly your own govt doesn't think so

India does not honor such treaties with Pakistan and Bangladesh. Why would China be bothered to have such treaty with India?

The rivers are in China's territory. It's totally up to China how to make the best use of the water.

sorry sir but what Shri Gilani and Shri Shah Mehmood Qureshi said, suggests otherwise

Even though Pakistan submitted a "non-paper" to India during the foreign secretary talks in February, Pakistani foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was quoted as telling TV interviewers on Friday that it wasn't India stealing Pakistan's water but Pakistan was wasting its water.

"The total average canal supplies of Pakistan are 104 million acres/ft. And the water available at the farm gate is about 70 million acre/ft. Where does the 34 million acre/ft go? It's not being stolen in India. It's being wasted in Pakistan," Qureshi is reported to have said in an interview.

Forget him,i doubt even you know what you are talking about.

40 years wrong. China is behind India 20-30 Years.

IAF >> PLAAF, IN >> PLAN, IA > PLA

Misslies Overall China > India

but Indo-China Specific Missiles, India > China (brahmos, Agni 5, agni 4, Agni 3 etc better then comparative chinese ones)

Nuclear weapons, China >> India
But Number of fronts to defend against MUCH BIGGER POWERS -- Russia, US, Japan (and many other fronts so China cant use all weapons against India)

Number or weapons China > India

Economy China > India

that is as fair as it can get.!!
Dude SersLy
u gone match India with CHina

India is decades behind china Lca tejas Still not ready vs J 20 No match man power No match

Missile tech well india media said their missiles dont work every time they got some problems and Pakistan is way ahead of india in missile tech So how can u CompT with Chinaa

your post makes no sense. LCA v/s J20 good comparison lol. Missiles which media report? some missiles will always be there which wont work. Man power. Infact PLA's men are no where near IA's men. India got the best warriors in the world in IA. The motivation and ability to lead and sacrifice is supreme in the IA men which no army can match in the world. 30-40 IA men with proper equipment can stand ground against 200-300 PLA's men easily.

and you suggest resources required to hold off against US/RUSSIA/JAPAN (and other fronts) to those required to hold off only against Pakistan are equal. I mean really again you make no sense.

These exchanges are like watching an American horror movie.

I wonder how bangladesh feel when brahmputra stops trickling in

dude most of the tributaries in the northern part of our country have dried up due to your country's policy. If you compare the topography of 50 years before and now, you will be shocked and disgusted.
You will also understand in the future how we feel when China shall divert the water flow of the river.
 to China.

Thanks

How I missed such hot topic :D

This problem has an easy solution. Independence of North East states. If this can be accomplished then there will be no common river between India and China. So for peace and stability of the region and to avoid a water war between China and India, it will be better for Asia and the world to have an independent North East states.

China can make that happen just by cutting waters for several days...the people of Nord East will have choice to be with India or to get water...then problem solve .

If China dams the rivers, India should make dams of its own and make sure not a drop of water trickles into Bangladesh.

India won't be affected much because all the major tributaries of Brahmputra originate in India, besides there is plenty of rainfall in the north east. That should be plenty for the people in North East India.

If Bangladesh wants water they ll have to ask China for it.

Not quite sure about your statement..your gorvernment is crying river for China's dam in Brahmaputra, if you guys are so sure about you..then there is no such paranoid about China playing with it own water

As for BD..we can ask Burma to divert some water to to help our BD friend from Irrawaddy river if they want to receive water from China for Salween river...we can even make things worst for India by cutting tributary river that flow across Nepal and merge to Ganges or to deviate Indus river waters and route to Pakistan..your J&K wont get a single drop of water.

A better idea, let Tibet gets its independence , considering that rivers from Tibet go as far as South-East Asia.

I guess this will have more positive impact then independence of NE , which will only benefit probably about 160 million at max.

plateaumap_lg.jpg

Guess everyone benefits that way. :agree:

Look at the map, China has hold world most valuable resource...more important than oil wand minerals, Tibet independant is Indian wet dream
