You can't blame them for supporting Mubarak, he is their ally. Just like you can't blame Iran for supporting Al Asad. That is how politics work. Also, its SAUDI money they can do whatever they wanna do with it. Donate it to Somalia, give it to Egypt, put in US banks, it is up to them. I am not saying they are perfect, because they clearly are not, but you guys are making it seem like they are the reason for every problem in the Muslim world today, they are not! We have to be fair when we judge other countries. If this was a thread about a military exercise of another Muslim country, all of us would be saying all the nicest things about this country, and how we all brothers in Islam, blah blah blah.

"Soldiers of Islam"?? Lol, yeah right, tell that to the Kashmiris, Palestinians, or Afghans, i'm sure they will laugh till their stomachs hurt.

Why not "Soldiers of Saudi Arabia"?? Why "Islam", when was the last time Saudis defended another Muslim country based on Islamic bond? Where were Saudis for Kashmir? Or are Kashmiris not Muslims?

we had one exercise back in the days of Gen Baig called

Zerb e Momin.. or the strike of the faithful. now many people even within Pakistan would question that name let alone rest of the Muslim nations.

although I find it funny that some members are browning their noses while going overboard in their praise which is more to the Sauds rather than the Holy land of Hijaz but that doesnt mean that we should bring off-topic issues due to ideological or political differences with Saudi regime.

the points are made enough time so if no one fancies accumulating the infractions then stop flaming. do it for the sake of the Holy Places if you will please.

Are we now?? As far as I'm concerned we are doing all the right moves in the international arena against Israel while Iran is taking the rouge approach and further giving Israel the look of Angel in the international arena.

We went against Israel from the hand that hurts it the most but Iran was a blessing for Israel it gave Israeli nukes legality for having nukes actually so they must thank Iran day in and day out. And frankly I wouldn't be surprised if this was the plan all along.

I find your analysis very sound. Iranian leadership lives in the past and is acting like an imbecile. picking up fight with almost every country in the region. in the face of American and Israeli aggression the least it can do is seek neutrality from the Arab countries. (please dont get me wrong I have lot of respect for Iranians but they have a lot to learn in foreign relations).


but the last line which is too far fetched (collusion of Israel & Iran? as much believable as the CIA involvement in 9/11 atrocity) because Iranians are paying a heavy price through assassinations, covert ops funding of Baloch Jundullah (that is a bane for Pakistan too).

I will be visiting my father soon and I will scan and upload his pictures when he served in Khamis and Sharura. he was part of an air defence unit of Pakistan on secondment that fought the Yemen back in the early 80s. our army men (including officers) laid their lives defending Saudi Arabia.

for those who dont know Sharura is a military border town (cantonnement) facing Yemen.

One of the earlier posts alluded to the fact that there was a lot of failures in these exercises. Then Mosa said that Saudi militia were shy having photos taken. I was wondering if these two facts are connected?

My assertion is that as in the title of the thread this Al Saud family tries to use religion to justify it's own existence after all they can hardly say to their subjects/slaves the Brits and west helped solidify their rule. The exercise could have been called Britannia or something I suppose. That probably would be more appropriate name to the exercise and therefore this thread.

So in answer to your question yes it is a theocracy created by a non theocratic leadership
