Chabahar port plan on fast-track

Why are you indians kidding yourself. Let the isaf forces leave and we will see through which country goods are transported and who will have a greater influence in afghanistan admit it or not we will. So carry on dreaming

PS getting berthing rights in Chabahar and you will be saying hi to new neighbours in gwadar they are called the chinese. Then we'll see whether or not your position is strenghtened. But then again you guys always go on hissy fits so whining will continue in terms of why is china here, they shouldn't be here, they have nuclear subs next to us please international community get them out of the persion gulf.

Adios cry babies

Sorry to say but lot of rant up there...Can u please tell what does Chabahar have to do with Chinese presence in Gwadar??? How are they two even related from China's perspective????

Best news ever...We should try to bring US and Iran closer. US can get another ally in the form of Iran and they won't have to be dependent on their older allies.

And how does TAPI differ from IPI??

We will see..but I am not in favor of handing over our energy security to Pakistan, but I think TAPI will be more secure as the number of countries involved is greater and will be mostly under the control of Western oil companies.

Absolutely right thought pal. Some times I really wonder why did the US make the Iran its foe.As far as I think,Iran would have been far reliable in the war on terror. It's high time that US should start to rethink about its strategy in the middle east.

From your post it is clearly visible that you have no idea about what are you talking.India has already establised a strong presence in Afganistan through several multi billion dollar infrastructure and public welfare projects and will continue to do so.How are you gonna bit us there-by supporting taliban??But first you need to look at your homeland,100s of people are getting murdered by terrorists at a daily basis;heck even your Naval base came under attack and they destroyed two of your Orions!!And it's your government that is crying that all these attacks are being done by Taliban supported and trained by R&AW!!So you can't use them against us in Afganistan according to your logic. So first try to resolve your own problems and watch what you say.
Coming to your 2nd point,do you really believe that PLAN is gonna deploy its vessels in such a long distance.Even if they place some warships they will be no way a big headach to us.Infact they will become dead meat if they want to mess with IN in IOR.
By the way,why did you bring Gwadar and China while replying to me??Where did I mentioned them??PLEASE for your own good, stop giving so much importance to yourselves.

Last time I heard that this project has been put on hold.

Whats up with that ? Clarity is lacking a lot regarding this project which I reckon will be a game-chnager.

Just because you are investing in infrastructure doesn't mean you control a country or are strengthend. yes you might have greater influence in certain aspects within the current regime but if you look at my post i stated WHEN ISAF TROOPS LEAVE your billions spent won't mean jack **** then.

Yes terrorists are carrying out attacks supported by raw, cia, mossad etc but you may want to look into who the ttp are and the current taliban in afghanistan. They are two seperate entities no matter how long ttp try to declare themselves as a division of the current taliban in afghanistan they are and will be considered the stooges of raw. ISAF leaving will be a game changer.

Dead meat haha you are no match for the chinese, keep on dreaming. If china were to be attacked at gwadar you will have to contend with Pak-China. You didn't mention gwadar etc, that doesn't mean i can't comment. I was just bringing you back to reality.

India to participate in developing Iran

Coinciding with India's plans to develop the strategically important Chabahar Port in Iran, the foreign minister of the country Ali Akbar Salehi will visit India on November 15.

Tehran has conveyed to New Delhi Salehi’s plans to attend Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation (IOR-ARC) in Bangalore on November 15 and to hold discussions with his Indian counterpart SM Krishna on a host of issues, senior government officials said.

Chabahar port — 72 km from Pakistan's deep-sea Gwadar port built with Chinese assistance — holds immense strategic and economic significance for India.

New Delhi maintains the port is in the common interest of “India, Iran Afghanistan, as well as Central Asia”. Chabahar is also closer to India than the existing port at Bandar Abbas.

With a host of problems including the West's antagonism toward Iran, the development of the port, for which India and Iran are cooperating since 2003 has not been making desired progress, will be discussed.

The need to speed up the port project was discussed at length at the joint commission between India and Iran last year. Now, India will be sending a technical team to Iran in a bid to speed up the work. According to sources, ministry of shipping had held a meeting recently in this regard.

The port can serve as India's entry point to Afghanistan, Central Asia and beyond. The port can be connected to the Zaranj-Delaram road in Afghanistan's Nimroz province, built with India’s assistance, via Milak.

India, Iran and Afghanistan have signed an agreement to give Indian goods, heading for Central Asia and Afghanistan, preferential treatment and tariff reductions at Chabahar.

Like I said you have no ideat about what you are talking.I said PLAN will be deadmeat in IOR.Why??Just look at their fleet-there are many warships but very few of them have the endurance to come to Gawdar.Besides they are currently too bottled up in South China Sea with a lot of hostile naval forces out there like USN,Japanese navy,South korea, taiwan, viets etc.Hech even the Russian navy is not too friendly. So the PLAN can't afford to deploy its principle war ships in Gwadar or very few if any.And coming to PN,it has just 30-40 ships with the most capable ones being the 4 F 22P class frigates with C 802 anti ship missiles. But they does not have a good SAM and more importantly still use mechanically scaned radars.Even the oldest ships of IN,the 5 Rajput(Kashin) class destroyers are far better equipped with MF Star AESA radars,Shtil and Barak SAMs,16 Brahmos AShMs.Now think yourself what will happen if these two navies colides and if you don't get it just figure it out.
And remember what we did to your Karachi port in 1971 with only 3 missile boats??Same can be done to your Gwadar as well without sending a single warship. In a time of hostility if need arises,we can just fire some Shaurya hybrid missiles and you can bye to your Gwadar and so called PLAN ships.Same can be told about Chabhar though.

Yes , we have our hands tied to the back  ( severe sarcasm lol )
How do you automatically assume that the other side will not respond ?... Without sending a single ship? Do you think that we have developed nuclear weapons for parades ? :D Fire some Shaurya and get your response ... You guys talk too much really :welcome: ... First compare your navy with that of China ... Today , PN is more equipped than it was in 1971 ... 3 missile boats ? Excerpt from history found on BR ? Did they tell you the fate of INS Khukri ?

Why are these stooges obsessed with ''the mighty chinese'' bringing in china in every thread. Ok, you wanna do some b*tt kissing, atleast do on relevant threads.

And stop thretening us with Chinese military, its not yours. You are a weak country dependent on china, it logically follows that YOU will end up doing china's dirty work, not the other way around. Have you forgotten the past?

At topic - the Chabahar port will go slow due to US pressures and due to the freeze in india iran relations lately. Iran has become more ambitious lately, the future is unpredictable.

No offense that what alliance for? you b_utt kiss the vietnam, we chinese bu_tt kiss Pakistan  Pakistan is might bet weak, but it hold the strategic cross "land" road between 3 worlds : Arabic countries, Central Asia, East asia (China) and south Asia (India), it's very importan country for China, they don't do the dirty work for China but some score to be settled wiht India.

As for Chabahar port, it's just Indian's wet dream...Iranians are sons and daughters of babylon empire, they know their pass and glory, certainly won't be a piece of your chess game as vietnam.

Nothing gonna happen its like India Iran gas pipeline every time minister talk :blah: :blah::blah:

But in reality things don't move.

Its just because of a weak prime minister a US puppet.

You are absolutely right.
India can't import oil form Iran and can't pay money due to US pressure.
Can't do money transaction for Iran,
Abort IPI gas pipeline project due to US pressure.

Even if Chabahar port become operational, Land route from Pakistan is very short and cost of sea route will far more expensive.
