What countries are China's major allies?

India should let the past go and seek a better tomorrow. Both side suffered loses in that war. Take Russia and China as example. We had border conflicts but look at where we are at now? I wouldn't say we are dependable allies, however we are still kind of allied. I believe India can be the same with China, but they really have to drop the constant hostile attitude and the media needs to shut there trap about China this and that. The only way to secure peace in Asia is for China, India, Russia and Pakistan to all join hands and work together.

^^ The major issue is not the 62 war. Trust me.
Most of the Paranoia is coz you guys are the primary arms suppliers to a country openly hostile to us.
Why else would we not seek chinese friendship? You guys are the going to be a valuable ally in the years to come. The worlds biggest superpower..

U.S has supplied far more destructive weapons to Pakistan in the past and still continues to. Why is India not more paranoid of U.S. when American weapons have killed far more Indians than Chinese ones?

We condemn it every time. We were never particularly strategic allies with the US until very recently.
I agree the paranoia exists. But India is an ally to china in every sense that we are to the USA except in arms(which is very recent, again)
If we can resolve issues of southern tibet and aksai chin. If we can forget the past conflicts and diplomatic failures..
we could be allied in a power bloc that would put NATO to shame.

China wouldn't mind selling arms to India either. Nothing frontline of course but nonetheless it would benefit both to simply trust each other a bit more

Is India trying to change its stance with China like it did with USA.

Trying to be close allies with an emerging superpower :china:

So much can be solved if we just put aside this worthless piece of land (Sorry if you're from Arunchunal Pradesh)

I feel India could never trust China completely unless Kashmir issue is resolved with Pakistan. Therefore before resolving issues with China India needs to resolve outstanding issues with Pakistan. That's the main course and China is just the side dish.

As a side thought China will like all rich and developed country around her to be politically stable. For example, there may be movements to guard and contain against the likes of Japan, but there will never be a decapitation strike or dismembering strategy adopted. Modern countries like these can withand hard, sharp shocks, most likely with their technology and industry intact. What it will do is allow extremist to take over politically, and from then it's just a matter to puring resources and money to rearm etc.

On the other hand, (if) a slowly weakening Japan due to it's own incompetence to reform etc will play to China's advantage. Weakened enough, It might even eventually stops being a credible threat.

America isnt the nation that claims a whole state of India, and also isnt right next to India.

Good theory but why is the US still trying to dismember China then? After all, after a decapitation strike the far left or far right could take power and nuke the US off the map. The fact is, its far less costly to weaken a country through supporting internal dissidents, criminal gangs and terrorists than it is to actually fight a war with them. Unfortunately, Japan is far too racially homogenous and politically stable to destabilize this way, but South Korea is not. But south korea can't even control its own military so it doesn't matter.

Go and read up on the Indo Soviet Treaty before you cite that as an example of India's non alignment gone bad. :coffee:

I have read it and written a paper on it. The question is do you know how these things work? Do you remember how the soviets entered Afghanistan?
