What's new

To all Chinese members, what is your favorite Chinese Dynasty?

Han Dynasty and the Roman did not happen war.
What a pity. Age of cold steel, the most advanced competition between the East and the West.

Tang and the Abbasid Caliphate has a short battle.
Afterwards the Anlushan rebellion started and Tang had to withdraw from their former areas of influence to deal with their traitor.

A very important things that occured is the spreading of paper making technology to the west from captured chinese prisoners.

Rome rose to its greatest glory during the Nerva-Antoine dynasty, known as the "Five Good Emperors". That was starting at 96 ACE, when Han dynasty was only a shell of its former self.

Not a valid comparison I think.

Yes, Tang lost the war. Tang's forces did not enter the Middle East...

It's fascinating. Too bad there was never much discription of where they're originally from. Also interested in knowing where Turkic people live before founding of Ottoman. Were they based in central asia? Read it somewhere that the Altay mountains were what some of them considers to be homeland.

they are from the mongolian steppe. the first turkic state built is called Gokturk Khaganate. that's what we chinese people called "突厥“ they fought with Tang dyanasty for many years before totally destroyed.

Tang after 755 AD has became so weak, therefore i rated it below Ming and Han.

Ming Dynasty.

1.) greatest territory controlled by hans
2.) strongest navy in world at the time
3.) began industrialization and had leading military technology of the time including handguns and rockets.
4.) fought wars against all major powers nearby including Europeans and won them all.
5.) only collapsed due to internal problems and traitors; without Wu Sangui opening the gate to the Manchus they would be squished like bugs by Chinese artillery.

5) Not true. Wu Sangui opened the gates to the Manchus because Ming was destroyed.

Ming Dynasty has the greatest courage, but they had bad luck.

That little Ice Age occurred in 15-16th century has really destroyed its agricultural system. Otherwise, they gonna crush the Manchus like a little bug.

I agree, Sui has the potential to become the greatest Dynasty in China's history, but that spoiled brats just ruined everything that his dad managed to build in decades.

actually qin and sui are the two most important dynasties in chinese history.

the birth of Qin empire changed the historical track of china from feudalism to imperial times. the unification of china, standardisation of unit, currency and language. feudal states became provinces/counties under centralized government.

Sui dyansty unified china which already been seperated into north/south china for hundreds of years. Sui dynasty invented imperial exams(科举) which limited the power of noblemen and further reinforced central government. sui dynasty also formulated new ministry system (三省六部), whiich was followed by all the dynasties thereafter..

The qin and sui are both very creative dynasties in statecraft but collapse very rapidly cuz go too far in political reform. Han followed qin's political system and prospered. Tang and Song followed Sui's political system and had unprecedented achievements in civilization.

there is stereotype that sui and qin were very draconian and inhumanedynasties, but modern historians think otheriwise. our perception of them are due to the "春秋笔法" of ancient historians.

first Qin emperor only buried four hundred scholars. think about how many people did zhu yuanzhang and zhu di (朱棣) killed. 1000 persons were killed for 方孝孺 case alone.

Qin and Sui were the innovators in the Chinese history, because of their short reign has diminished their importance in the Chinese history.

And 方孝孺 still has modern descendants living in the area of Shanghai/Jiangsu/Zhejiang. That case was probably exaggerated by Qing Dynasty in order to demonize Ming.

1 well at that time the people don't have strong consciousness of race identity. people have idea of sinicized and no-sinicized (华夷之辨)i think they are all chinese
2 they have big ships and good navigation skills but no navy
3 industrization?that's wishful thinking of old days chinese scholars. they have only mature handicraft at time. "leading military technology of the time including handguns and rockets?" first, guns were very immature at that time second their guns were even behind japanese guns in korean war in wanli era. european already had better guns at the end of ming.
4 what european powers? Dutch? ming already died the day zhengchenggong fought Dutch.
5 ming was destroyed by Lizicheng not Manchu.:mps:

Ming was not impressive enough compared to other chinese dynasties even Qing dynasties. Ming was already on downside spiral of chinese civilzation.

If the Chinese best dynasty is that? Is Qin, he unified China, Tang, he is the Chinese most prosperous country! ming, he takes to various countries' civilization exchange!

Just for a laugh, I would say the Zhou Dynasty. They impregnated Shang Dynasty and gave birth to our beloved and, recently, much debated topic "The Mandate of Heaven".
