Pak govt APPROVES 6% HIKE in Defense Budget

@fatman17

Armed forces need some "fat " cutting

Valid point. But where is the fat?

If you reduce jawans at the lower end, you have thousands of militarily trained personnel swelling the ranks of TLP, TTP etc. (Think Freikorps in the 1920s). These are not decisions that can be taken at the spur of the moment. Need to be thought out.

Regards
Start with the entitlements. Then move to the bloated civilian jobs cadres. Integration of FC and Rangers, basically doing the same job. Evaluate the infrastructure (clubs, messes etc). Why the 3 branches have separate medical facilities?

Don't flatter yourself. East Pakistanis had tremendous will power for freedom which was jump started by the 25th March crackdown by PA.
Without strong determination of East Pakistanis no amount of Indian support would have made seperation possible.
So you don't have strong will?
Okay. First make a strong will.

Sir how are you as retired personnel able to speak so freely?

The retired generals I come across on Twitter usually are very protective of their own group. Almost every tweet of their's is a veiled threat in some form.

Apko kali Vigo se dar nai lagta?

Don't expect subsidized fuel in gas guzzler 10 million rupee SUVs
Used by the Army?? Wadera? CSP wannabe viceroy overlord?

Any Pakistani anywhere knows where the fat is. No it's not the numbers of soldiers. It's the amount of benefits the higher ranks get. Plots, subsidies, vehicles, house workers, the list doesn't stop. It's not rocket science as to how Musharraf bought Apartments in downtown Dubai, or how one owns the franchises for one of the largest pizza companies in the United States and has an entire chain of franchises.

At this point the Pakistan Army is an entirely different sub culture, no common man can relate with most. They set themselves apart with their housing societies.

Moreover, they have their own commercial adventures which I am sure have been illegally getting contracts by Government instead of competitively.

They use land given to them for defence purposes for commercial projects, and when the court catches them red handed, they rename their mall to Air Cadre College. I think all Pakistanis know what's being talked about here.

For an institution that is all about sacrifice and service to the nation facing all odds, this is a joke.

6 % is nothing. Hardly covering the inflation.
Proper defense needs atleast a 20 % jump to cover inflation and the international situation.
Does ‘Proper Defense’ include upgrading from 5* international chefs to 5* chefs for each dish ?

Is their maths off?

Gas, oil, electricity prices up and defense budget is also up.

There should be a massive protest here. The defense budget should be reduced by 20% minimum.

1 Dollar rate in July 2021 was Rs.160 and this year it's Rs.200.

In dollar terms it is less...no?

This is your US embassy at work in Pakistan with the help of Bajwa.
You, sitting in a NATO country, are lecturing me, in Pakistan, about foreign interference?
The Pakistani people aren't stupid. The US, opposition parties and the Pakistani army are involved in this robbery.
You're repeating my point and then contradicting it. I don't know what you're trying to get at, but let me rephrase what I said in simple words:

If Pakistanis, especially those in power, weren't so greedy and corrupt, would the US or any foreign power be able to bribe them with such ease? The foreign role is minimal in all of this. They're just throwing money and enjoying the show while sellout Pakistanis happily perform a mujra over their country's dying body.
You are sucking the people of Pakistan dry. All of you.

Who am I, the CEO of the Establishment?

I might be wrong but the actual defense budget does not include salary/pension for the army. That is under a different budget.

I can't believe I am seeing Pakistanis on PDF oppose an increase in defence budget - how times have changed.

People are also calling for civilian control of the military - I used to receive flak for proposing this.
The upside of the IK debacle is that it has been a massive wake up call for the Pakistani educated class.
Pakistanis never minded in the past….but now they’re questioning it bcaz the military begs enemies for “peace” so why hike in budget when begging and doing what usa wants……i used to support it too in the past but seeing their behaviour these last few yrs under Bajwa we’re not so sure anymore…..trust has lost/eroded greatly……

Ordinary Pakistanis not getting anything while these elites get it all…..protocols, security, maids and gardeners, drivers, cars etc
While our poorly equipped soldiers die on frontlines everyday
Its the reason why we’re now suspicious about this hike……

What is this "awaam" still waiting for then? It's about 2 months now lmao 😂

I as a Pakistani youth am really disheartened by acts of Pakistan military. There are many nations who didn't side with US or Europe on Ukraine. Openly. I don't get why suddenly Pak generals want to bend over and "service" Amreekan danda? Like a chaprasi?
greed!

Of course. The Americans have never meddled in Pakistan. Everyone believes you. 👍

At least the good news is that now the Americans won't be ever trusted again by Pakistani people living inside and outside Pakistan.
