HARARE: Zimbabwe police said on Friday they had detained two Pakistani men heading to South Africa, one of them under an international arrest warrant, which state media said was for terrorism.

South Africa is hosting the World Cup and experts had said that terrorism could not be ruled out because of the huge attention that even a small attack would get during the June 11-July 11 tournament.

“We have two Pakistani men in our custody and through Interpol we have established that there is a warrant for one of them,” police spokesman Wayne Bvudzijena told Reuters.

Asked if one of the men was a terrorism suspect, Bvudzijena said: “I wouldn't say that at the moment, it is too early, we are still conducting our investigations.”

The two were detained at the Beitbridge border post and the state-owned Herald newspaper reported that one of the unnamed men was suspected of terrorism but that there were no details on which country wanted him.

The paper said the two flew from Saudi Arabia to Tanzania where they fraudulently acquired Kenyan passports before travelling to Zimbabwe by road last weekend.

The Herald quoted unnamed security officials as saying the wanted terrorism suspect was based in the Chilean capital Santiago.

.
That Saif guy who was caught in Chile claimed to be innocent and while the two cases might be unconnected, there isn't a big Pakistani community in Chile which sends signals that there might be something fishy going on.

.
Can u elaborate on how a small Pak community in Chile implies fishy things going on? Didn't get it.

I meant that one guy being arrested, even wrongfully, for having traces of explosives on him and now another one coming from Chile being arrested for terrorism on foreign soil.

Chile might be a brewing hotbed for international terror planning.

I can smell some thing fishy :smokin:

Pakistan-Iran Gas pipeline, US unapproval
Pakistan-China Nuclear Reactors deal, US unapproval

and suddenly like the case of Ahmad Shahzad,
Pakistan's name is again being associated with terrorism and Pakistani's are again being arrested here and there.
This time from the most unlikeliest of places.

If i could only smell what Amrica is cooking

Interpol.. Big Deal :smokin:

Maybe one of them robbed a bank and fled...
thats why interpol is after him.

but since they are Pakistani's what charge will suit them more than Terrorism :hitwall:

Pakistani terror suspects named

Police have named the suspected Pakistani terrorists who were arrested Bietbridge Border Post last Sunday as they tried to enter South Africa raising fears terror groups could be trying to target the football tournament underway in the country.

Imran Muhammad, 33, and compatriot Chaudry Parvez Ahmed (39) were nabbed by alert immigration officers as they attempted to cross the border last Sunday night using fake passports.

South Africa is hosting the FIFA World Cup Finals and the purpose of the duo’s visit to the country remains unclear.

Zimbabwe and South Africa are operating a joint command post at Beitbridge for the duration of the tournament.

Muhammed is said to be wanted in Pakistan for alleged involvement in the terrorist attacks that hit Mumbai, India in 2008.

The Herald newspaper reported that Muhammad and Ahmed flew from Saudi Arabia to Tanzania, where they fraudulently acquired Kenyan passports before connecting to Zimbabwe by road.

But immigration officers at Beitbridge discovered the fake documents and alerted the police border control officers leading to their arrest.

A police spokesman said investigations were continuing.
"They are in Harare and in custody as investigations on the case continue," ZRP spokesperson Wayne Bvudzijena was quoted as saying.

South Africa has repeatedly given assurances that the soccer tournament will be safe but fears remain that the country could be vulnerable to attack.

Officials insist South Africa’s non-aligned status and the lack of any substantial local support for militant groups insulates the country from terrorism.

Still he country’s security services and the football governing body FIFA are cooperating with foreign security agencies and Interpol to ensure the safety of both visitors and teams participating in the tournament.

Experts say while South Africa has not been a target in recent years, terrorist groups might ‘target the event and not the country’.

"It (World Cup) is the biggest sports event in the world. Although South Africa might think we are beyond the interests of groups like al Qaeda, the event is the target, not the country," said Anneli Botha, from the Institute of Security Studies in Pretoria.

well if i look at indian mumbai attack evidence dossier
http://www.archive.org/stream/MumbaiAttackEvidenceDossiers/MumbaiAttacksEvidenceDossier3_djvu.txt

Indians wanted Muhammad Imran Butt @ Umar Saani of Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (LeT)

This Imran Muhammad is probably the case of mistaken identity.
Like every Khan is stopped and interogated at USA airports.
Not every Khan is terrorist and not every combination of Muhammad and Imran is the wanted terrorist by India.

btw can you feel the difference b\w Imran Muhammad and Muhammad Imran Butt??

Imran Muhammad... Imran son of Muhammad
Muhammad Imran Butt... son of some Butt but definately not son of Muhammad

Does this also implement that Saudia Arabia is involved in Mumbai Attacks isnt it?

You gona believe every thing the media says?
Well I Dont :smokin:

It is these kind of conspiracy theories that are dragging your country's name in mud. If you start believing that Pakistan is the center of the world and everybody including the Americans, Indians, Israelis and the Russians are plotting against, God help your nation.
