Zarif calls for expansion of security co-op with Turkey / Iran, Turkey set $30b trade target

.
lol at some Iranian members. Relationship between Iran and Turkey was always stable and thriving even among disagreements in foreign/internal policies. Its no surprize that Iran and Turkey chose to increase trade.

It would be stupid for iranians to increase gas export to Turkey, since it would undermine their joint venture with russia in syria.
The best action would be to work with Russians to prevent Azerbaijan to increase its export even by sabotaging the tanap line.

Note that russia did not close the gas export but decreased the import from Turkey, leaving the gas money in russia.
Iranians should do the same.

LOL sabotage TANAP , keep dreaming

the 50 billion dollar project won't stop :-)

.
good news. more trade means less tension, region is more stable and more secure.
both countries benefit.

Thank god both governments are sane enough to dont let disagreement in some goals of foreign policy like syria effect on other fields and make the situation worth.

I hope to see a union between us again during my life, its not impossible, just need some time to we grow up enough.

don't try this kind of things ...there is an economic reason behind of all of these ...
you demand less than half of Market price for our Gas and Oil , some times we had to sell it , but now , we don't have to sell you any more ...

I hope not . I'd be really disappointed if we do that

Turkey should be taught a lesson. If Iran increases economic coop with Turkey that would be like stabbing Syria in the back

The same thing you guys did . Once best budds with syria and now an ISIS supporter .

Way to go

And despite your disappointment the Turkish-Iranian trade relation is growing, i hardly believe Iran will say no to the opportunity to sell gas to Turkey and Europe.

First, iran already said there wont be any increase.

Second, iran can use this chance to decrease the import from turkey, without decreasing the gas export. Cash is better than low quality turkish textile and they need more cash.

Third, TANAP is not the best way to go for iran.

Iran willing to sell its gas to Europe via Turkey

After the elimination of the international sanctions imposed on Iran, it is possible to transport Iranian natural gas to Europe through Turkey, according to Cevad Emin Mansur, the director of Trade and Energy Negotiations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran. Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), Mansur indicated that following the termination of sanctions, Iran is considering selling its gas resources to European markets. He said: "If there is demand from European markets, it is possible to transport the natural gas via Turkey. There are many factors to lead to such trade, but it is now too early to speak about those factors. We expect the sanctions to be fully eliminated; thereafter, we can consider the marketing of natural gas, the routes and the buyers."

On the other hand, following the cut of natural gas flow to Turkey by half due to harsh weather conditions, Iran declared that it would remain loyal to its commitments. Through the announcement made by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, it indicated that it would like to underline it will remain loyal to commitments it made to Turkey regarding the energy issue.

Also, as agencies reported on Wednesday, Turkey's national oil company, Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAŞ) said that there is "no alarming situation" with regard to the volume of natural gas flowing to Turkey from Iran.

Many experts say that the daily amount of natural gas coming from Iran to Turkey may fluctuate and is an ordinary situation experienced every year, due to the weather in Iran, which was around 13 degrees Celsius to 15 degrees Celsius last week, but suddenly dropped to 6 degrees Celsius to 8 degrees Celsius this week. Since this led to an increase in domestic demand, the daily gas flow of some 28 million to 30 million cubic meters fell to around 14 million to 15 million cubic meters.

Presidential spokesman İbrahim Kalın touched on this issue on Wednesday at a press conference in Ankara and said" "The problem has been resolved" and "the gas flow [from Iran] is back to its normal level."

Moreover, experts had already stressed that the decrease in the daily amount of natural gas Turkey receives had no connection to the tension between Turkey and Russia, adding that according to the contract signed with Iran, the flow of natural gas into Turkish territories will not decrease from the agreed upon amounts.

Iran says no additional gas for Turkey amid Moscow-Ankara tensions
bijan_namdar_zanganeh_020815.jpg

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 29

By Khalid Kazimov - Trend:

Iran says it will not increase its gas supply to Ankara in case of a possible shortage of gas in Turkey due to resent tensions with Moscow.

Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh has said that Tehran is only capable of delivering gas to Turkey within the framework of an existing contract with Ankara, Shana news agency reported Nov. 28.

According to the existing contract between Tehran and Ankara, Iran is committed to deliver up to 10 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas per year. However, the figure stood at 9 (bcm) last year.

Tensions between Moscow and Ankara intensified since Turkey shot down a Russian Su-24 bomber Nov. 24 over its border with Syria.

If Turkey’s gas demand increases Iran will not be capable to supply more than existing amount as the domestic demand in Iran is expected to increase due to the cold season, the minister said.

The remarks came during a conference in Tehran Nov. 28 presenting the country’s newly designed oil contracts, called the Iran Petroleum Contract (IPC) which is designed as a way to make up for the inefficiencies in Iran’s previous contracts (buyback).

Zanganeh further denied that the slump in oil prices may discourage foreign investors to participate in the country’s oil and gas projects and said even if the oil prices fall again, investment in Iran’s oil and gas projects is still beneficial.

The total cost for producing a barrel of oil in Iran is less than $10 dollars.

He also said that the oil projects under the new model of contracts will be implemented through tenders.

According to him several European and Asian companies including Total and Eni are interested in participating in Iran’s oil and gas projects.

Speaking about the upcoming OPEC session to be held on December 4 and the necessity to reach a consensus the minister expressed faint hope that the session may achieve a consensus over oil process.

International investors hope for fat profits as Iran is adhering to terms of a July nuclear deal reached with world’s six major powers.

Under the deal, financial sanctions imposed against Iran and its banking system over the Tehran’s nuclear program, are expected to be lifted in return for scaling down the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.

A beneficial relationship with Turkey is extremely important, but not if Erdogan keeps acting like a raving madmen. Destabilizing Syria was incredibly stupid. Everything was going fine in the region, and Erdogan suddenly started to get into the regime changing business. What, he had a few years of economic improvement and suddenly it got to his head and thought Turkey became the new USA, where he could change regimes left and right?
