Asif Zardari dubbed "Mr 10%" an unknown happy-go-lucky son of a small-time businessman who struck gold by marrying one of the worlds most glamorous women Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benzair Bhutto. Taking advantage of his wife's authority he is known to have taken kickbacks from many deals inside and outside of Pakistan.

According to survery he was declared as 2nd richest person of Pakistan at the begining of 2008 check link for details:
Pakistans Most Rich Men and Families of 2008 - sab say ameer log, Pakistan kay ameer loog

His grasping enthusiasm pushing him up to sky of limits(kick-back till some one kick him to hell) he may now reach to the elite one & only richest top ranking, especially when he resumed again the ruling of Pakistan.

. .
Why Asif Ali Zardari Matters:

Zardari is the husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, who was twice prime minister of Pakistan and was likely to be elected to the post a third time in 2007 when she was assassinated.
In August 2008, Bhutto’s Pakistan Peoples Party named Zardari for president. The election was scheduled for Sept. 6. Zardari’s past, like Bhutto’s, is riddled with charges of corruption. He is known as “Mr. 10 Percent,” a reference to kickbacks believed to have enriched him and his late wife to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. He’s never been convicted on any of the charges but served a total of 11 years in prison.

Asif Ali Zardari’s Early Life and Family:

Zardari was born on July 21, 1956, the son of Pakistani politician Hakim Ali Zardari, a Sindhi tribal leader who opted for urban life and grew fantastically wealthy from it. Asif Ali Zardari had a privileged childhood, attending Saint Patrick's High School in Karachi, the same school that former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf—a Bhutto family rival—attended.
Zardari then attended the London School of Economics. Thanks to his father’s wealth, Zardari had a private disco in his own home and became known as a polo-playing playboy who called his ponies the Zardari Four. Zardari is a diabetic.

An Arranged Marriage of Convenience With Benazir Bhutto:

Zardari married Benazir Bhutto on Dec. 18, 1987. The marriage was arranged by the two families, with Bhutto’s mother picking out Zardari for her daughter. Bhutto and Zardari had met only five days before the wedding, though marriage negotiations took almost six months.
Had it not been for "the political ramifications of every step I take," Bhutto said at the time, "then perhaps this would not have been an arranged marriage, but, in the circumstances, it seemed the only course." Zardari kept to a few words: “I have no interest in politics,” an early but characteristic untruth. The couple had three children.

Zardari Charged With Attempted Murder and Extortion:

It wasn’t long before Zardari faced his first arrest—an attempted-murder and extortion charge in 1990 stemming from an alleged plot that April. Zadari and accomplice Ghulam Hussain Unar. Unar and Zardari allegedly strapped a remote-controlled bomb to the leg of Pakistani-born British businessman Murtaza Hussain Bukhari, who was discussing plans to build a hospital in Pakistan, and forced him to cash $800,000 in checks.
Zardari was imprisoned. He contested the charges, calling them politically motivated. Bhutto was prime minister at the time but was ousted in October 1990.

From Prison to Finance Minister to Second Murder Charge:

A special court acquitted Zardari of bank fraud and conspiracy to murder charges. He was released in February 1993. When Zardari’s wife became prime minister again months later, she named him finance minister—a post that did not exist. The couple built a $50 million “prime minister’s residence" on 110 acres on an Islamabad hilltop.
Zardari also acquired the 365-acre, $8 million Rockwood Estate in Surrey, England, and a $4 million estate in Palm Beach County, Florida. Cases of Zardari and Bhutto corruption piled up fast during her second tenure as prime minister.

A Laundry List of Corruption Allegations:

Charges and allegations included:
Zardari buying almost $1 million worth of jewelry through a Swiss bank account and an American Express card.
Zardari taking kickbacks from a Dubai gold trader.
French military contractor Dassault Aviation agreeing to pay Zardari $200 million in exchange for a $4 billion jet fighter deal with Pakistan. (The deal fell apart when Bhutto was booted out of government.)
In 1996, Zardari was arrested again and charged with murdering his wife’s brother.
Zardari was imprisoned. Pakistan’s president dismissed Bhutto for corruption. Zardari was in prison until 2004.
The government claimed Bhutto and Zardari siphoned $1.5 billion in public money during Bhutto’s second term. None of the charges stuck, though Pakistan is still, according to The New Yorker's Steve Coll, looking into more than $54 million allegedly stashed in Swiss bank accounts by the Bhutto family. Investigators, Coll writes, are also "looking into companies involved in Iraq's oil-for-food program, under Saddam Hussein, from which Bhutto allegedly benefited."

From Manhattan’s Upper East Side Back to Politics Again:

Zardari won his release from prison after his wife’s Pakistan Peoples Party negotiated a deal with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf. Zardari moved to Manhattan’s wealthy Upper East Side, where he lived for three years.
Following his wife’s assassination, Zardari claimed her will named him as her successor to the leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party. Zardari asked his son, Bilawal, to be the party chairman, though Zardari clearly intended to wield the power. On Aug. 22, the PPP nominated him for the Pakistani presidency vacated by Musharraf earlier that week. The election was set for Sept. 6.

Pakistan People's Party Asif Ali Zardari The Money Manager

Tuesday, 26 August 2008 03:06 Pakistan Daily

His wife’s party men looked down at him. But he beat them all. Zar-Dari means the money manger. And he lived up to his name.

A wife-beater who dragged the Prime Minister of Pakistan out of her official meetings by the hair. When he bought a palace in England, he liked a local pub and ordered that an entire replica be constructed inside the palace.

The Americans used to back military men or politicians as henchmen. Now they has a feudal lord. At least he speaks better English than the Chaudhries of Gujrat.

Every man dreams to have invincible power, huge amounts of money and a beauty makeover. Most waste their lives and themselves in their struggle to achieve this. They die wondering what they had done wrong, why their hard work had been in vain.

Meet Mr. Zardari: a man with the same dream, but a difference between him and all these people is that his dream came true.

Mr. Zardari, who wed Miss Bhutto in an arranged marriage in 1987, became popular for his flamboyant tastes, and a big mustache. His wife became the prime minister, and he the lucky First Man. But he must have failed to convey his desires to his wife, because the Ministry of Environment was as far as he could get, definitely an understatement compared to his ambitions. He saw his wife every day, in all her glory and he patiently stood behind her chair, ignored as if he were part of the furniture or the background. Those close to her looked at him condescendingly for his lack of mannerism and excess of callowness. He was seen as a stain on her reputation and a mistake that she had made.

But he was no fool, and definably not naive. During his wife’s two governments, he was able to build his own little kingdom, by making a fortune for himself. He managed to transfer funds over a $100 million to foreign bank accounts, took payments from foreign companies who wanted favors from the government and acquired many registered and unregistered properties. He purchased, among other things, a $4 million, 355-acre estate south of London. In 1994 and 1995, he used a Swiss bank account and an American Express card to buy jewelry worth $660,000 — including $246,000 at Cartier Inc. and Bulgari Corp. in Beverly Hills, Calif., in barely a month.

Regardless to say, Mr. Ten Percent had no reason to be disappointed, his wife’s tenures proved quite useful for him. His only regret must be that the milk-and-honey did not last the full term of five years. He lived up to his name: Zar-Dari [the money manager].

Despite his success, his high spirited nature caught often landed him in trouble. He became known for repeatedly beating his wife. After all, dragging the Prime Minister of Pakistan, even if she did happen to be his wife, out of a meeting by her hair was bound to be conspicuous.

There were strong rumors that the couple was parting ways, but his trip to jail intervened. After his release on bail in 2004, Mrs. Bhutto-Zardari was living in Dubai with her kids, and Mr. Zardari moved to New York with his dogs.

It seems that the perception that women forgive easily holds true in Mrs. Bhutto-Zardari’s case.

Apparently his wife looked over their differences and left a piece of paper behind her that was going to change his life and the history of Pakistan forever.

This ‘will’ as we know it today became the blue print for turning his dreams into a reality. He was now the king [at least until his son became of age] and his power was invincible.

Mr. Asif Zardari comes from a business family that owned a dilapidated cinema hall. Today he owns much more, thanks to his power-hungry, status-seeking nature. He realized early on that those before him had been foolish in thinking that hard work realized dreams. This was their mistake. He knew that the only way to go was through corruption and manipulation.

This master of deception knew how to choose the right allies. What is even more credible is that his success is unprecedented. The U.S. of A. has often placed its pawns in power, but they have always either been men in uniform seeking legitimacy, or politicians seeking power. Never have they been jagir dar husbands of ex-party leaders with corruption cases being heard not only in their own homeland but also far flung countries lke Switzerland, cases that are still under trial.

We may now have a President, whose biggest credential, in his own words, is that he spent 11 years in jail on criminal and corruption charges. Ask him about his political struggle and you will hear it from the horse’s own mouth.

In 2003, a Swiss magistrate found Mr. Zardari and Mrs. Zardari guilty on money laundering charges, and ordered them to return $12 million to the Pakistani government. The case is currently being heard in the Court of Appeals there. In Britain, Zardari faces a civil case brought in connection with a country manor with hundreds of acres in southern England where he made extensive renovations, including the installation of an imitation of a
local pub.

Next time when his name is called out for any of these cases, will it be Mr. Asif Zardari, or The President of Pakistan? Talk about an international image.

Mr. Zardari today has a lot to be proud of. He can afford to grin at the camera when the people in the country have no gas, electricity or food. He can smile and say the judges will be restored and the government will complete its five years term and bring prosperity. He can call himself Senator Zardari and not be questioned. Mr. Zardari is indeed Mr. Cent Percent. I give my congratulations to Mr. Zardari, and pray for God’s blessings for Pakistan.
