LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday accused President Asif Ali Zardari for trying to escape the wrath of the people in general elections because of the failures of his government.
In an interview with a private TV channel, the chief minister said that Zardari’s government has insulted the people and their trust in Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and said that PPP’s government has given nothing to the people accept inflation, unemployment, shortage of gas and electricity. He further said he believes that good governance is the solution to people’s problems and said that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has only made efforts to bring relief to the people. He said it is not about a shortage of resources in the country.
Furthermore, he said that people and media are clamoring over malpractices and corruption but the rulers are unmoved and there is no sign of good governance or financial discipline. He said that national progress and prosperity is directly linked with a strong democracy and continuity of the democratic process. He made an appeal to political leadership to avoid the path of economic suicide and political subjugation and set proper targets as it is the only option for survival and progress of the country.
Responding to a question, Shahbaz said that the nation has seen Zardari’s model of democracy and the Zardari gang, disappointed by its future, is resorting to negative tactics.
Replying to another question, Shahbaz said that he is hopeful that PML-N will come out as the majority party of the country in the elections and Nawaz Sharif will emerge as the symbol of hope and trust of the nation while the fate of the allies of Zardari in loot and plunder will be seen by the whole world. He said that there is a need for comprehensive policy to root out terrorism and sabotage.
Moreover, he said all possible measures have been taken to check extremism in Punjab. He said that every Pakistani is concerned over lawlessness in Karachi and added peace in Karachi is essential for a safe economic future of the country.
DENGUE EFFORTS: The CM also hailed the successes of the government efforts against dengue epidemic and said that compared to the 354 people losing their life last year due to dengue, it is a great feat that that this year, only 261 people were affected and no one lost their lives.
In a statement, the chief minister congratulated the nation and said thanked the people who stood by him in the war against dengue. His expressed his gratitude for his political colleagues, medical experts, paramedical staff and government servants.
He said that victory against dengue was not possible without collective efforts and all out cooperation from all segments of the society. The chief minister also commended the cooperation of the governments of Sri Lanka, Thailand and Indonesia and the cooperation of their medical experts. He said that religious leaders, teachers, labourers, students, women, welfare organizations, laboratory owners, trust hospital, media and political workers also extended invaluable cooperation in overcoming dengue virus and worked day and night during the anti-dengue campaign. He said that officials of district governments and members of dengue brigade played a strong role in the war against dengue. He said that progress can be made in every sector by displaying the same spirit and hard work as was shown in the fight against the disease.

zardari will never go for peaceful power transfer because his party will not be able to make good in next election so want to creat unrest in country so army takes over and after 10 years pppp could say that their government was thrown off and they have right to get votes and pakistani will be trapped and elect them again

I dn t think that zardari is in a position to delay elections even if he wants to.anyhow, irrespective of number seats ppp has taken in the parliament in the previous 6 elections ,their vote bank remains almost the same e.g in 2002 they got 29% ,while in 2008 30% of the total votes. They can always count on their die hard supportes not matter how bad their performance has been.
Also the fact that majority of ppp seats will come from interor sindh where there are not being challenged by any other party.
However ,it will be very difficult for PML N to get the same number of seats from punjab because of imran khan`s factor this time

He was going to hang Zardari upside down in Bhatti Chowk ...that's what he said in last October. He should first consult his elder sibling before commenting against Zardari .

Jiss Ko President Ki Kursi Ka Chaska Lag Jaaye Wo Itni Asaani Say Kursi Nai Chorhta... Musharraf had this 'Chaska' too and look at him where is he now... leaving the country to Thieves and Looters by signing NRO and now enjoying a lush life in the UK.

Zardari Ke Paas In Shareefo Ka Moo Band Karnay Ka Gurh Already Mojood Hay... Wo Kehtay Hay, Hum Tho Dhoobay Gay Sanam Thum Ko Bhi Le Dhoobay Gay... If Zardari is going down he'll make sure the Shareefs go down as well.

Bro, army is not going to come in. They are committed to help democracy stay in place regardless of how corrupt/imperfect it may be.

i do not mean that army want's to or will take over what i was trying to say that zardari wants army to take over so that they could plead their inocense and ask for votes in next elections

PMLN is not a party but a group of people with identical vested interests. A party can not have a name after a person. There are many negative connotations associated with the word N; it gives the impression that party is somehow owned and ruled by a single person–Nawaz Sharif.A serious Democratic Party can’t have a name like Nawaz League. The second problem is somewhat similar to the first one, but it has the potential to become a big hurdle for PML-N when it comes to its unity; it has to do with the party revolving around a single family. In 1990s, the main problem that developed between Nawaz Sharif family and the Chaudris, had to do with the kind of absolute control Nawaz Sharif family had in PML-N. The prime example of it was when after 1997 elections, Nawaz Sharif became Prime Minister of Pakistan and his brother Shahbaz Sharif became the Chief Minister of Punjab. It gave the impression that no one in party was worthy enough to have a higher level position, other than someone belonging to Nawaz Sharif family. Nawaz Sharif family will have to accept that if it wants PML-N to be successful party, the family has to gradually limit its role in the party. People like Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar, Captain Safdar and Hamza Shehbaz need to take a backseat and people mentioned above and others need to come forward. Also despite having a large vote-bank in urban areas, the party has very few urban non-bradri people in the party. PML-N despite its claims can not be Democratic Party as it is strongly occupied by Sharif family. Its manifesto is just to bestow upon family members. One still wonders what the worthy politicians like Javed Hashmi and others doing in PML-N. Why they are failing to understand to that there is great difference between a party and family group.

PPP is not going to get much votes, they will get some in tribal strong holds though and eventually partnering up with other corrupt parties to make a opposition.

I see MQM to follow PPP all the way. So whoever votes for MQM this time, lanat ho tum logon per.

wowowowowowowowowow

MQM the bad, but you didnt speak about ANP, PMLQ, and other countless allied parties

MQM this, MQM that!!

all MQM rhetoric, need to bring MQM some where some how

What is this non sense? President will postpone General Elections and Chaudhary PCO and Media will just enjoy the show?
With Media and Judicial activism at it's peak, I don't see that happening. But somebody remind Mian Sahab, it wasn't Sharif brothers who stayed in jails for over 11 years and severely tortured. Love or Hate Asif, but let's not be hypocrites, the Man is a fighter. General Elections is the last thing he'd be scared of, especially now more than ever. When you've Imran challenging Sharif Brothers in Punjab only to facilitate(intentionally or unintentionally) PPP.
As far as I'm concerned, get ready for Elections.
