Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt at the PM House in Islamabad to discuss the ongoing operation in North Waziristan, Express News reported on Tuesday.

Nawaz said that the operation will continue until all foreign and local terrorists are eliminated and no sanctuary would be spared. Responding to claims that the army operation was started in haste, the premier stated that this was not the case and it was initiated after careful thought and consideration with the aim to enforce state writ in the tribal areas.
“We have planned for the development of tribal areas after the successful operation,” he added.

Nawaz also said that once the operation is complete, the government will help internally displaced persons (IDPs) settle into homes and developmental work will be started in the affected areas. On June 27, Nawaz had announced a Ramazan package worth Rs20,000 for each family of IDPs. Around 500,000 people were displaced due to the operation in North Waziristan.

The Ramazan package is in addition to the earlier announced monthly allowance of Rs20,000 which includes Rs5,000 for non-food items and Rs3,000 for rent. Since the start of operation Zarb-e-Azb on June 15, 376 terrorists have been killed while 19 have surrendered to the security forces, according to an ISPR statement.

i agreed with u tarrar there are external enemies working in balochistan many of our innocent civilians and soldiers suffered their life's. army must take action against all these terrorist groups in balochistan and eliminate the external agents from balochistan.

I hold a different opinion in this regard. Although I don't expect development in those areas to spur the tribals into accepting capitalism and contributing to the national economy through their entrepreneurial ingenuity (if any), what we mustn't overlook in our discourse is the fact that the very spawn of terrorism in the area was catalysed by the rampant poverty and lack of opportunities prevalent in the area. The tribals do not conform with the national life of Pakistan today, because for the past 6 decades they have been isolated and left at the mercy of their own tribal customs and system. The FDA was only set up as recently as 2009 and if my memory is serving me correctly, the last university erected in FATA was more than 50 years ago.

If we don't teach them how to fish, they will go hungry and if they go hungry they will turn their attention to matters which do, and always will, pose a grave threat to the integrity and sovereignty of this country.

There will be a continuous presence of Armed forces there. A road network - which was non-existent before 2001 - has been built and there is already infusion of money in health and education under the watch of armed forces. Integration will be the watchword in the coming days; it may be slow but it will definitely happen.
