Mian Yousuf Jameel on Wednesday set a world record of tree plantation by individual in one day, breaking the previous record of a Canadian Ken Chaplin.

Yousuf Jameel, a Lance Naik, resident of Lawri Wala, Wazirabad, stared planting saplings on Tuesday at 1400 hours and continued his effort uninterruptedly except some rest at night.

On Wednesday, Jameel resumed his tree plantation effort at 0900 hours in the morning.

Earlier, a Canadian citizen Ken Chaplin set a world record by planting 15,170 plants in 24 hours in 2001 that has been broken by Yousuf Jameel after nine years by planting 16,800 plants till Wednesday morning.

As, till filing of this report, more or less three hours yet remain to reach the set deadline of 1400 hours, it is expected that the plantation figure may reach 18,000 mark.

In July 2009, Pakistan has already received a certificate from Guinness Book of World Records in acknowledgment of planting as many as 541,176 mangroves trees in a day at 800 acres of land at Keti Bunder, District Thatta.

We know we should plant trees but we do not do it! It's very bad and sad - all should plant at least one tree.
