Sorry but may i ask why do Bangladeshis not remember they were East Pakistanis before? What sorcery has Hilsa performed on them that they do not remember that?
We stopped wasting our brain thinking about things that doesn’t benefit us...

. . . .
Pakistanis living in one part of Pakistan usually never visit another part of Pakistan in their entire lives, so it is quite understandable that young children/adults don't know much about Bangladesh. I am from Gujranwala Pakistan and apart from Lahore, Karachi, Multan, Taxila and Murree, I have never visited any other place in Pakistan. I wouldn't have even visited Multan and Taxila, had I not needed to go there to submit my admission applications in universities there, same with karachi I was there only because of work for few months. So if it was not the media, then peshwar, quetta, larkana don't even exist for me. I have never ever visited even a big neighboring city like Faisalabad which is just 150 Km away from my city and I doubt I will ever visit it unless I have some important "work" or "matter" which demands me going there.

Pakistanis by nature are not interested in knowing about the places other than their current own residential cities. This is also a trend that you will notice on internet too, you will hardly see a pakistani visiting non-pakistani forums of india or bangladesh etc or even commenting under the youtube videos related to india or bangladesh. We just don't have the appetite for this kind of adventurism, might have something to do with our indigenous culture. But I have noticed that "indians" are a whole different species than us, they are very curious about everything related to pakistan and they are always spamming comments sections of pakistan related videos and news articles on youtube and various newspapers, blogs, quora, reddit etc.

That is very true, I remember when I lived with Pakistani & Indian friends during universities, it was when I first got interested in S.Asia, the Pakistanis were very interested & happy in telling me everything about Pakistan culture, history etc

But they don’t really ask much about your background or that keen to know about the others as much.

That is interesting because I always found Indians more insecure about their own position and Pakistani more confident, despite the general acceptance that Pak is supposed to be the ‘younger’ nation

Pakistanis by in large are very docile people , talking about those who live within Pakistan. The lack of movement within Pakistan is astonishing considering we are not a huge country geographically. I have seen many adults, living in northern Pakistan visiting Karachi, never seen beaches in their entire lives! Those who live in south, never experienced snow in their entire lives, when in winter northern Pakistan is engulfed by snow. Those black Pakistani living in south do not know that there white Pakistani among the mountain of north and vice versa.

We are basically lazy people.

Let me be the devils advocate.

Do you believe that Xenophobia is a real thing in Pakistan? Given that internal migrations are rare and mostly result in communal violence?

I dont think Bangladesh has ever comeu in our family conversation .... Ever. It is basically irrelevant.

And that is exactly right. Bangla is an unimportant country as far as Pakistan is concerned. Why would the youth of Pakistan country try to learn about a poor, unimportant country? I would even go as far as to say that Pakistan should not have any diplomatic relations with Bangla. It is waste of resources.

This is what I've been trying to tell Bangladeshis in this forum. Hardly anyone in Pakistan talks about Bangladesh in Pakistan. Usually the discussions is in this order, Afghanistan, India, China, USA, Middle East then Central Asia.

Brown and wheatish.

There are black Pakistanis too. The first group that comes in my mind is Sheedis.

True. they like to be called Makrani. Sheedi is considered somewhat derogatory. but over whelming majority of Southern Pakistanis is brown or wheatish.
