Young, Muslim and reflecting on Ayodhya

Forget the demolition. How do you explain the installation of idols in 1949? Did anyone get prosecuted for that? We are failing our minorities.

Simple legal reason. The constitution was not ready then and so you cannot punish anyone even before the law is established.

It was mentioned by none other than eminent lawyer Arun Jaitley in an interview.

No we not failing any minorities.None of the countries in the world have given so much place for any minorities than India

As a part of Majority, I fear that this judgement gives more space to the fringe elements within my community who like to whip up passion based on religion to forward their own political goals.

Ridiculuos unfounded notion - RSS the main party has already said they are not pursuing any more cases and all they want is a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

All political parties, except that of Mulayam and Laloo who have raked up issues in favour of Muslims and got snubbed in the process , have said that this is an excellent judgement that paves the way for re-conciliation between the two communities.

One party cannot always be giving and another cannot always be receiving. Its always a give and take.

I again ask the question - why everyone who spoke abt religion trumping over law is silent when I mentioned the Shah Bano case.?

Isnt that also the same.? why different set of rules for Muslims and Hindus.?

Mosque or no mosque is a material thing...over the years tens of religious places have been replaced or demolished and disappeared into history. Those who exploit issues do so for their own twisted gains..one should read my detailed reply in Ayodha verdict thread

There are all idiots. Religion has no place in the governance of our country. Rajiv Gandhi was openly pandering to the religious extremists.

Are we going to ignore our conscience and hide behind legal technicalities??

Promise?? Pakka Promise??? Are the RSS the only loonies in India?

It is not a question of give and take. It is a question of what is right and what is wrong and 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Pretty ridiculous verdict of the Indian court. A judge in a modern secular state basing his decision on a belief (legends, stories, call it what you want) to sort out worldly matters. Pretty lame.

hundreds of years was not enough for the hindu mobs who brought the masjid down - time did not heal them did it?

Time healed the wounds of millions of hindus, muslims and sikhs whose familiy members were slaughtered by each other during partition.

Time can heal even the sorest of wounds my friend.

The indian court's verdict was right keeping in mind the sensitivities of the Indian society.

People who live in more or less homogeneous societies may find it odd.

i just proved to you that time did not heal "the sorest of wounds" - are you appeasing the mobs who did this?

Time heals the wounds.

Caveat: Sometimes it does take a long time though. But it works for sure.

Sorry that is not acceptable.

You may call lame or whatever..but the one community is enjoying the law that was passed to annul the Secular judgement of the Supreme Court just because their faith did not alllow it.

So if this verdict is trashed and annulled because of this canard,I want that law also to be annulled.

If that is valid and it stays, then this must also stay.

Also I have explained how this judgement is not a "Faith trumping over law " in post # 6

Please read it.

But arent the technicalities of law that we r speaking about now, and how according to some the same technicalities of law has been ignored. ;)

First RSS is not a loony.

If you are in India, you would be surprised to know the amount of charitable and social service carried out by the RSS.

Secondly the Places of Worship act passed in 1991 validates that the status of all places of worship will continue as they were on Aug 15 1947 except Ayodhya which was special case.

So dont worry no body is gonna take a crowbar and bring down the Taj Mahal or the Mosques in Kashi and Mathura,if that was what you were insinuating.

It is not a question of give and take. It is a question of what is right and what is wrong and 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Sometimes the ideal solution makes things much more worse than the practical solution and this is one such case.

See lets be candid - I will be deeply hurt if the land (one of the most sacred places to me) had been given entirely to the Muslims and so would be the majority. The law (according to some) might have trumped there, but a chance of re-conciliation might have gone down the drain, thus giving more ammo to extreme rightwingers like Bajrang Dal etc.

Do you want that or the peace that prevails right now.?

One thing for all of you.

Don't get obsessed with religion. Hope/Belief are the main things that bring mankind together. All religions are build upon that. Sometimes religions turned out to be more violent in nature than what it was intended in the beginning.

Jesus, Ram ... etc etc ... as far as I'm concerned are not going to come and feed me and make me happy in this world (of course if you want to live your life preaching). My family and friends are the ones that really matters. Anyways, just as politics religion is also the same. The people who created it just wanted to manipulate people. As far as I'm concerned (and if you can think logically you can understand), religions are nothing but folk stories, just like the famous Aesop fables.

Religion is good as long as it is in limits. Don't get fanatical about some belief just to satisfy your ego. It shows that you don't have anything else important to do in your life.

Just ask one question: Whats the difference between you and the religious fanatics? If you are one of them, this post is not aimed at you.
