Young man commits suicide after police torture

GUJRANWALA: A young man committed suicide by consuming toxic pills on Tuesday after he was allegedly tortured by police in the area of Alipur Chatta near Gujranwala.
Qasim Ali who worked on a medical store as a salesman was handed over to police by an owner of the store in a suspicion of theft case.
Alis family alleged that police tortured him severely before releasing him on the interference of the areas people.
Ali was disheartened after the incident and took toxic pills. He was later shifted to the Civil Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Alis family in protest took to the Madina Chook and disrupted traffic by placing deceased body on the road. They chanted slogans against the police brutality.
Police officials, however, denied that Ali was subjected to torture.
