LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said:"Yesterday’s Jihadis have become today’s terrorists”, in an apparent reference to the Mujahideen, who fought against Soviet Union in Afghanistan in 1980s with the support of Pakistan’s security establishment and the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Addressing participants of Security and War course at the National Defence University (NDU) Mr Sharif vowed to take action against the elements those responsible for Rawalpindi violence, adding that the incident was a ‘stigma’.
He said that dream of Pakistan’s prosperity could not be fulfilled without the elimination of terrorism.
The Punjab chief minister said elements responsible for the Rawalpindi incident would be brought to justice at any cost.
He said: “we have to move forward with concerted efforts and collective wisdom by providing the masses with basic amenities and social and economic uplift.
