Yemeni's Soviet-Era Missiles Hunting S. Arabia's Abrams Tanks

What are Saudi options to upgrade their tanks with active counter measure systems (something similar to Varta) and ERA armor.
That can be to some extend useful against Konkurs but when it come against something like kronet that it's flight pattern resemble more like a drunken bee I won't think it would be much of help.

hahaha 40 years old ATGM doing that is amazing

1976 to present 20+ countries still using it and still being produced

calling it a 40year old missile is like dissing the viper because the first flights were 1974

. .
just like decades ago when US sold expired Weaponry to SA and other gulf countries. In my opinion USA gave gulfs the low end version of Abrams which is no good. I remember when Pakistan offered them Al Khalid's believe me it would have been way better.

.
Are they using scaled down version of Abrams ?
Yup,they are actually using a downgraded "watered down" version of Abrams M1A2 without the D.U. armor.Still,i must admit that the M1A2 is an extremely potent tank and will give nightmare to any anti-tank infantry crew in the battlefield:coffee:

Exactly, the Konkur atgm specially the Konkur-M version with its tandem warhead can easily penetrate 800mm+ RHA like a hot knife through butter as stated by @MilSpec sir.No wonder the Indian Army is in love with this missile and has inducted nearly 25000 of these in their inventory throughout the last decade.

At present kornet is most dreaded ATGM with indian army.IMO no atgm paralelles its brute force which it hits the target, however TOW has the advantage of top attack mode.

Konkur specially the Konkur-M version is perhaps the 2nd most devastating pan portable atgm at the moment besides Kornet(which is another gem of an atgm). The 2006 Lebanon war proved in front of everybody the superiority of the Kornet missiles when the Hezbullah managed to destroy numerous Merkhava-III/IV tanks using Kornets:coffee:.And the funniest thing is that we(I mean India) has an arsenal of over 25,000 Konkur-M missiles which we ordered from Russia in the last decade, plus we have another 3000 Kornet missiles along with 250 launchers.Just imagine the woes of the enemy when it'll try to invade India:sarcastic:!!
Btw what kinds of atgm are in the Iranian Army arsenal beside BGM TOW and its derivatives??I mean,do you guys have Kornet and Konkur-M??

What ksa uses has lower Armour than what the American use

wow.... 5 tanks are called as numerous in your dictionary???? around 50 tanks took hit but only 5 were beyond repair... most of the left over were repaired instantly and send back....

Uff bro, you're making a mountain out of a molehill:rolleyes:.I was just pointing out the relevance of Konkur-M and Kornet in the modern battlefield. What i meant was that if the Merkava III/IV which is arguably one of the best protected tanks at present couldn't withstand the impact of a Kornet missile on it's frontal armor without the Trophy countermeasure then imagine what would happen to the Pakistani/Chinese tank fleet(considering the fact that most of their tanks are based on the obsolete Soviet design and without any credible hard kill/soft kill counter measures) if they decide to invade India:coffee:

.
Did it penetrate frontal armor or side/rear armour?
Can't say from video. If it penetrated frontal armor then it does make abrams highly overrated.
Anyway ERA is best protection against HEAT warheads.

We have more than 25,000 konkurs.Thats good news.

Well its harsh to call an Abram a junk but honestly do you believe that American army tanks have the same quality with the export version of the tank.
they must be obviously much more better just like their F-15s were but still their export versions pretty much outclass many tanks that their purchasers ever have and get.

their war record in terms of their protection and fire power is the testament of that. like I said.. if that buffoon Iraqi had not left the hatch open then there wont have been even a single Abram kill.

We have more than 25,000 konkurs.Enough for both Pakistan and china.
why you want to drag your rivalry towards Pak-China in this thread?

This conversation is has given me cancer!

1 - No export version of the M1 Abrams has the depleted uranium layers within its armour

2 - No nation except the United States uses depleted uranium layers in their armour

3 - So all third gen MBTs such as the Merkava, Leopard, Challenger, and T90 don't have depleted uranium layers in their armour. Should they be considered downgraded junk?

4 - Majority of third generation tanks use composite armours such as the Chobham (which is a modern version of the Burlington that was on the early M1A1) or (if you're Ruski) RHA with a lot of ERA inserts

5 - The actual armour characteristics on export M1s are still classified

6 - Every tank is killable as every tank has weak points (usually the rear, underbelly, and top of the tank)

7 - plenty of Iraqi M1s have taken hits from ATGMs such as the Kornet (some to the side) and have shrugged it off

8 - Fars News and Iranians in general are not to be taken seriously on military matters, far too much jingoism, posturing, and outright chauvinism.
