(Reuters) - Yemen's president on Monday approved turning the country into a federal state made up of six regions, effectively giving the south more autonomy, state news agency Saba reported.

r

Political factions had agreed to give President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi an extra year to complete a power transfer deal under a U.S.-backed Gulf accord that includes turning Yemen into a federal state.

Under the new system, the south is divided into two regions, Aden and Hadramout, according to Saba. The northern part of the country was divided into four regions.

Hadi is also tasked with drafting a new constitution that will form the basis of elections slated for next year.

Yemen has been in turmoil since mass protests in 2011 eventually forced out former President Ali Abullah Saleh, grappling with a northern rebellion, Islamist militancy and economic upheaval.

HAHAH the Houthis got lost.:lol:

Well done Yemen. :flame:

Well done? So our countries are becoming even more divided until Israel and US proxies completely split up our countries into several regions.

Do you think we want this? They want this and this guy is just going with the plan.

Will you please stop your obsession with the US and Israel as Yemen has got nothing to do with them. This decision was made by the current president of Yemen and I think they are mature enough to do whatever they feel is good for them.

Peace.

It will still remain as one unit and as one single country called Yemen. Federalism is more to give power to locals so they can look after their immediate region. The ultimate decision making will still happen from Sana'a.

Yemen is a big and diverse country where regions differ greatly in geography, climate, history etc. So this is only normal. Many people have also complained, especially in the South, about discrimination and due to the lack of attention shown by the government.

Don't worry. Yemen is one of the oldest civilizations in the world.

Yemenis are very proud people and they recognize the same social fabric and history that they all belong to no matter region or if they happen to be Sunni Muslims, Zaydi Muslims or Yemeni Jews. Regionalism is strong though but that's due to the reasons I mentioned in the beginning and it is not necessarily negative.

It's the only step forward otherwise political chaos and to a smaller degree infighting would still occur.

Now the goal for Yemen is to get rid of the Houthi Zaydi cult and Al-Qaeda on the Arabian Peninsula. Both are equal cancers that are destroying Yemen. Many other problems as well unfortunately but that's another discussion.

As partially Yemeni you should be happy 7abibi. It's really not a bad solution.

Please keep calm, this man has it under control.

Now when this scumbag is gone:

Watch this video below, please.

Hasani explained this better for me but no, I will not stop my obsession. What we need is an obsession because they've shaped the whole Middle East and continue to do so to this day. We aren't allowed to function freely.

@Hazzy997

Might interest you as partially Yemeni bro.

I have not watched that documentary so can't tell how accurate it is.

@al-Hasani

I wish I had patience to watch documentaries bro. :lol:

Show me tomorrow a very interesting documentary and I will watch it, it's unfortunate because I could miss out on a lot of beneficial information.

How did the Houthis lose in this case

Houthis are a smaller problem than Al-Qaeda animals obviously. Because they now will be confined to the North of Azal region and have no access to the Sea and because the separatists in Yemen (socialists in the South and Houthis in the north) would prefer a two state solution meaning a regional division in just North and South. 2 regions. Not the proposed 6. Actually it is 7 because the capital Sana'a will function more or less like a independent region on its own.

Short version.

Southern Yemen was communist (only Arab and Middle Eastern country to date) and many people are socialists there and want their own country so they can get more of the oil and gas revenues since most are in the South.

The west would like to split up the whole Middle East. They are already working on it with Syria, have done it with Sudan and now this.

Partially right but there is no other solution in Yemen. Also Yemen will still remain one country ruled from Sana'a it will just be federalism.

It is a complicated history actually. Many different political, regional, tribal etc. interests.

I mean Southern Yemen like the only Arab and Middle Eastern country if not Muslim in the entire history was ruled by communists for its entire history.

South Yemen pre 1967 was made up by 24 different states/rulers if I recall. LOL.

Then you have Houthis, Al-Qaeda, corruption, poverty, external meddling from all neighboring countries etc.

Besides the Americans and before them the Brits have been involved in Yemen for a long time. Nothing to do. The drone war on terror also hits Yemen. Sometimes for the good and sometimes for the bad.
