What's new

Y chromosome and mtdna

Now you understand why and how Madhusree was right.

BTW, who cares? If Indians will get extinct, let them be. May be that is what nature wants. I told you anything that does not affect my personal life is not of my concern. Yes, I am toooooo much selfish.

About deceases coming from consanguineous/affinal marriages or inbreeding... it may be a news to you, such diseases are already there.

This research may help to explain why some genetic conditions are more common in India than elsewhere. For example a 25 base pair mutation in the MYBPC3 (cardiac myosin binding protein C) gene raises the risk of heart failure by seven times, and is found in about 4% of the Indian population. It is rare elsewhere in the world.

There is plenty of anecdotal evidence that recessive diseases are quite common in India, but they haven't been studied in any systematic way. The next steps are to look for the causal genes amongst these groups, and to study and assess more Indian populations.

Human Inbreeding and the Caste System: The Search for Human Inbreeding Defects

Your problem is that you are not ready to learn from others because of your arrogance. You assume that you already know everything and nothing exists beyond your knowledge. But I am not like you.

You lecture an Indian about India! WTF! Have you ever visited India... the townships and villages of Haryana, Rajasthan, UP and Bihar? Do you know what is happening there in the families? Listen buddy, India is not just Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. India is not what Indian members of PDF portray. Even you should not trust me if I tell you anything without referring to any academic studies. It is better you visit India if you really want to know about India.

You spend no time jumping to the conclusion that Madhusree was wrong. Who the hell are you to say that? Do you know how caste system works? Do you know there the villages and districts in India were the only and only occupation among all families is hereditary prostitution. Have you ever visited Rajasthan's Bharatpur? Have you ever visited any Indian brothel for that matter?

Yes.... the key to understand Indian society lies in the brothels. If you are interested in anthropology, you have to go to the brothels, the traditional ones which have been there for centuries. You have to know where the girls come from and what happens to them afterwards. You have to understand what happens in a Rajput or a Thakur's bedroom in Bihar or Uttar Pradesh.

I suggest you to collect this material and go through it.

I don't know the background of this discussion, but I agree that the quoted comment about Indian men/women is talking about genetic similarities (Caucasian/Asian) rather than phenotypes.

As for the Y-chromosome, it could play a role in forming phenotypes; I don't know.

Also, to the best of my knowledge, the mitochondria is the cell's dynamo (energy generator); it is not known to play any role in determining phenotypes. However, along with the mtDNA, the child would get the mother's regular genes, which would affect the phenotypes, so tracing back the mtDNA is an indirect clue to ancestral phenotypes inherited through the mother.

it is cause of such beliefs that you mentioned in post no 8......that your folks look like this......having horrid and scary appearances cause of satanic beliefs.

you see the sadhu sitting in the jungle at night time....you will leak in your pants........

you see the person on straight path at night time in jungle.....you will feel safe and relaxed

are you too dumb to understand this simple observation and not mending your ways?

@turbo charged  easy there bro...we are trying to have an educated discussion here....
@Enemy

I did not know that the Indians married their own daughters...I remember there was a thread where the chance of inheriting a bad trait was given in % and mind you father- daughter is not really ethical nor biologically advantageous...why on earth would anyone do such a thing to their own child?

genetic conditions are more common in India than elsewhere.

India is not really the center of the world there are some isolated populations of Africa, some Jews and a few other populations which have inbred over a long period of time and have high frequencies of genetic diseases!!

I agree with you. But they are not my folks. I don't belong to them. I would find it honorable to commit suicide rather than being associated with such creatures.

Every bit of our DNA contribute to a bit of our phenotypes...yes you are kind of correct however mtDNA usually has regulatory genes not genes of height, face size, feet and hands and stuff like that...i guess that is why they say mtDNA doesnt contribute to phenotypes...

Then again keep in mind Genetics is evolving...what we know now is new to what we knew 20 yrs back....in fact many of our sequences 20yrs back are being resequenced as making sense of the sequences is being tough and one realizes how many mistakes they were in previous sequences...HOWEVER, we have enough background knowledge to differentiate if we are on the right path or not :D

There is no such thing as sex differentiated racial phenotypes (men and women in one ethnic group who look like different races). Madhusree has no idea what she is talking about when she says Indian men look more caucasian because of their Y chromosomes. And both men and women inherit mtdna from their mothers.

If there has been severe inbreeding, both Indian men AND women should look like one phenotype in general, either both look mostly caucasian or both look mostly asian, there is no such thing as Indian men looking more caucasian than females. Both male and female children inherit autosomal DNA from their parents which determines their phenotype.

If you don't get anything, ask me. Don't say, you are wrong, I am right.

Yes, you are correct saying, "If there has been severe inbreeding, both Indian men AND women should look like one phenotype in general, either both look mostly caucasian or both look mostly asian."

But you just have to omit the word female from your statement and see what happens. If both inbreeding and female infanticide go hand in hand, what will happen?

Yes, you got it.... men will be look-alike men but women would look different from men.
