all will go down the drain if this stupid govt doesn't find a way to control inflation --- cost of cultivation is becoming unbearable for the small farmers.
In other words, China will be taking control over agricultural lands in Pakistan.
If price of crop goes up farmers have no problem with inflation.
you very well know that comparatively, prices of crops don't go up --- met few farmers last week, say won't grow wheat anymore, they all sowed canola/raya this time.
We must be careful. No foreign owned farms, no leasing of farm land, no foreign workers on the farms.
Farming is the easiest industry for us to expand. The idiots in government should use state land to make state owned farms and hire farmers on a salary to make produce. These farms should be managed by people with qualifications in horticulture, agriculture and ecology.
Because canola/raya is giving more money. Wheat gives least amount of money but still it is profitable because it has least amount of expense. But still selling and caring for canola/raya is more difficult than wheat.
For China we need to focus on cultivating Soya beans in barani cultivation like we do with chickpeas.
This is the best way forward. Pakistan agriculture is still primitive after 70 years of independence and is a national shame. Even India has higher productivity. What we need to do is lease out say 2.5% of land in various districts of Pakistan to Chinese agri-business concerns. Then we need a system where all other farmers can look at and copy the best practices that these Chinese agri-businesses bring in. This should serve to first introduce modern technology and trade linkages with Chinese market. This could be a great example of finding a niche in the global tradimg order. With a market of 1.4 billion in China we could not go wrong.CPEC will see the Chinese leasing Pakistani farmlands.
yesterday visited a village in district Toba tek Singh, this is what i saw, cotton crop destroyed -- felt sorry for the farmers, they say this is happening for the last three seasons. --- Can you guide me what has is happening here?
