World's 2nd highest suspension bridge

Editor's note: Just two weeks later, the world's second highest suspension bridge will be finished and open for traffic in China. The Qingshui River Bridge has been built in rocky terrain to improve transport links between Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou province, and its neighboring counties. It will shorten the distance from Weng'an county to Guiyang from about 160 kilometers to 36 kilometers. The bridge, which cost 1.54 billion yuan and took two years to build, will be 406 meters tall and with a span of 1,130 meters, according to the local media.

The only bridge taller than it will be the Sidu River Bridge - in Badong, central China’s Hubei province - which has a height of 496 meters. Another major Chinese bridge under construction in Baoshan, Yunnan province, will be 2,470 meters long when it is completed next year. The world-famous Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California, is 227 meters tall and has a span of 1,280 meters.
