This is how they make such rankings. They try to be as independent as possible and make a really good ranking at first. Then they put their true enemies in the worst spots regardless of their real rankings, these are maybe just afew countries, like Iran or Russia. This is how propaganda works. You feed misinformation sandwiched between very good data. If all you feed is misinformation then nobody is going to believe you. For example they have put Saudis low at 158 which is their true place if not lower, but they put Iran at the dead bottom since Iran is the enemy and talks the truth.

fact is North Europe countries are very much opened in freedom of speech and press. and have very good governance. that 's a fact.

Oh. I see now. You mean, In Germany a newspaper can write that only 5,999,999 Jews were killed in world war 2 and not the official round figure of 6,000,000. Wow. I did not know that. There is so much freedom of expression in Germany. And in France you can wear your head scarf and go to a newspaper office handing them over an article about Armenians in World War 1 and claim that it was fog of war and not deliberate killings. Wow, France has such a good score on Free press. Wow. I am impressed. I am sure also you can write in French newspapers about all the genocide that French have done all over the world.

Anyways, these rankings look more like for freedom of **** press than for actual press. If you do not believe me then just for the fun of it, go and send an article to a German newspaper saying that Hitler was a monster but he has been misunderstood just alittle bit. Just for fun of it and in the interest of free press. You do not have to believe in it. You will find out about freedom of speech soon.

Iran banned Youtube and Facebook. I agree that we are at 158 but as I have been saying before for a long time Iran has less freedom than KSA. That's how it is. However that does not mean we have the best freedoms either, we seriously need a boost in that all of us both Iran and KSA.

I agree with the Ranking. I for myself seen the Media improve here over the years but then taken a huge blow because of the Arab Spring for the worse. I mean before the Arab Spring you can find a news paper extremely critical of the King and government and it was okay but it was toned down (You can see the arrow going downwards in the report). I also know in Iran propaganda is heavily exercised. I mean PressTV alone has become the joke of the Media world.

Lot's of banning on internet in Iran. We do have banning of the internet too but not as heavily as in Iran. I mean KSA has the highest per-captia viewers/posters on YouTube. Again I am not saying our Media is free and awesome but I am saying it is better than Iran. Despite the image Iran gives of "Barbaric Lizard Eating Saudis".
