World Bank: A Look at the Impact of China's GuiGuang and NanGuang Rail Lines

I don't know the differences of democracy in US and democracy in Japan/Europe. Maybe, the level of corporate influence? There will be several new lines opened in Japan and Spain during the next decade.
Representative democracy here is more corporate oriented and less socialistic.

Is the oil industry in Texas the biggest local economic sector?
Yes. Just look at how Houston got big and rich today. And Dallas city was originally created as an oil town too I believe.

It is because of Republicans' overwhelming dominant hold on state offices here. They hold the majority of governorship and the legislature.

I was there years ago, Austin, Dallas. Still miss my life in Texas, good memory. The food, especially I like red lobster.

人民网南宁6月10日电 (陈露露、曾令瑶)据南宁铁路局消息,自7月1日新一轮旅客列车运行图调整后,每天往返广西和广东两区省之间的高铁直通动车将达到86对,两广之间将真正实现实现“公交化”。

此次调图是南宁铁路局今年以来第三次调整列车运行图,“主角”仍是动车组列车为主。此次调图中,新增旅客列车14对,其中动车组列车增开就占了12对,并且有10对集中在南广和贵广铁路,调整后,两广之间互通的直通动车由开通初期的49对增长到了86对,成为桂粤之间百姓出行的首选交通工具。

“同饮一江水,两广一家亲”。广西、广东历来兄弟相称,山水相连,语言相通,风俗相近。广东作为我国改革开放的前沿阵地,毗临港澳,有着 “世界工厂”之称的广东,已成为全国经济发展的“领头雁”。 而广西作为沿海、沿边、少数民族地区和革命老区,经济发展相对缓慢。近年来,随着西部大开发战略深入实施、北部湾经济区开放开发上升为国家战略,中国—东盟自由贸易区的建成,广西经济社会发展面临千载难逢的黄金机遇,区位优势、后发优势日益突显。

但由于交通基础条件的滞后,2013年以前,广西铁路出省铁路通道线路等级低、技术装备落后,列车最高时速一直未能突破120公里/小时,虽然是近在咫尺的邻居,但两地的旅客必须花费近13个小时绕行湖南衡阳或茂名才能到达对方省会城市,这样的交通状况让“两广一家亲”显得有些名不副实。

贵广、南广铁路2014年底开通以来,桂粤省会间的旅行时间由原来的13小时缩短到3个多小时,动车组成为桂粤两地旅客的首选交通工具,沿线旅游客流倍增,旅客需求持续旺盛。

据南宁铁路局客运部门统计,今年1至5月,广西到广东的铁路旅客发送量是355万人次,与去年同期增长196%。动车的全程客座平均利用率达到约90%,位居全国前列。从数据不难看出,南广、贵广铁路对两广来说具有巨大的社会以及经济效应。随着高铁的规模迅速扩张,高铁对促进广西融入泛珠三角区域合作,把广西打造成为国际区域经济合作新高地、中国沿海经济发展新一极具有重大而深远的意义,两广间的资源优势、资金优势将更加紧密地联系起来,对区域经济腾飞的撬动作用不可估量。

在高铁的带动下,两广之间的旅游市场,高铁红利得到了充分释放。

日前,香港迪士尼“夏雪节”开幕,为配合南广高铁开通,香港迪士尼乐园为南广铁路游客设直达巴士站,开通了往返包括深圳高铁北站、深圳湾、深圳机场、广州、番禺等广东省14个城市的巴士,设置超过20个跨境巴士票务服务点,南宁游客可坐南广高铁到深圳北站,乘坐乐园的点对点跨境巴士直达乐园。

From 1 July, the number of bullet trains from Guangxi to Guangdong will increase to 86 pairs. Since GuiGuang HSR and NanGuang HSR started operation in December 2014, the traveling time is cut from 13 hours to 3 hours, shorting the distance of capitals of Guangxi and Guangdong. Travelers can change shuttle bus to Disneyland at railway stations in Guangdong.
