INS Aridhaman​

INS Aridhaman has a pretty advanced armaments capability than INS Arihant! - It can carry double the missiles carried by INS Arihant - 24 × K15 SLBM (750–1900 km or 405–1026 mi range) or 8 × K-4 SLBM (Under development) (3500 km or 1890 km range) and has 6 × 21" (533 mm) torpedo tubes – est. 30 charges (torpedoes, missiles or mines). INS Arihant carries 6 x 533mm torpedoes and 12 x K-15 Sagarika SLBM or 4 x K-4.​

No it is same like Arihant. First three boats will have same number of armament but next three follow on boats will have double number of armaments.

They are too slow as usual!

Their normal full speed is rated 25plus knots. Which means it is not slow. Only Chinese and Pakistan navy have enmity with us, China doesn't have the capability to track and hunt SSBN in open seas. Pakistan is far behind in hunter killer mission.

Am finding difficult to understand the te difference between Arihant and a Aridhaman . Is it bigger than Arihant and ins chakra ? How it can carry so much more load ?
Can we drive non nuclear or nuclear attack submarine for guarding our s oast line ?

First thing it is same as Arihant and next follow on boat will be more than 8000 tons. So they will have double armament than first three boats. And yes nuke subs can operate in shallow water around the coast but they are venerable in such areas against SSKs as they don't have their advantage of speed and they are noisy against SSKs.

No one knows mate! Out of all the defence projects ever pursued by India - the Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV) project is the most covert one! Unlike other projects we have very little info available on Arihant Class Nuclear Submarines in public domain. Damn even after 5 years of being launched we have just 3 images of INS Arihant made public! BTW there is no info on ATV-3 right now - not even a CGI but yes as they all belong to the same class - the third one will be similar in design with the first and second one.



Dude developing a nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine is not a piece of cake! As a matter of fact INS Arihant is the first ballistic missile submarine to have been built by a country other than one of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council. We built the first nuclear reactor with significant inputs from the Russians but the second one is being built all by ourself only - it will take time as after the INS Sindhurakshak incident the Navy is having a set of stringent safety audits to curb such accidents.



No the design and displacement is the same - but INS Aridhaman has more silos than INS Arihant - A total capacity (mines, torpedoes, and missiles) of 30 weapons.

They had mistaken the follow on boats of Arhant class as follow on of Arihant boat. Arindman and next boat is similar in weight and size with same armament space. Next Gen boats will have double number of silos. It is confirmed.

How it is compared to ins chakra

Will carry SLBM, cruise missiles and other armanent(common weapons in tubes). Has less speed less weight, advance in hull basic design.

Reactor must be of 140 MW + to give it a required power to chase, escape etc. Arihant is under power and fit for some attack roles.

It doesn't need to chase any one at all. Just wait for instructions and launch its missiles from safe distance. While SSN will always be with it like a shadow for coordinated attack against any bearing target boat. We have nine SSNs planned in which six have been given go ahead as of now and apart from some basic hull changes and differance in armament it will be all same but with additional plating and dedicated attack role. It's speed will be slightly more than 27 knots which will be more than enough for time being.

Less powerful. Not fit for attack role but good for petrol. A3 SLBM may be in making for arihant class or aridaman class which may have 12 M dia compare to 10 m of Arihant to vertically launch the missile like A3 SLBM which will be of 12 M long.

ARIHANT likely to have testing equipments, tools, etc inside,
since nuclear reactor is involved, these may be in higher proportion
may even a diesel generators as back up..

ARidaman, shall have the designed weapons payload.

Aila what was that! There no diesel generators in substitute of nuke core. All three boats will have same number and type of armament. Period.
