@Oscar: All I can say is observe this person you mentioned in your post for few days to get an idea of what kind of hatred he holds against Muslims and Pakistanis.

A self proclaimed "medical doctor" by profession who strangely finds hours and hours everyday to post offensive comments against Muslims and Pakistanis on an online forum to earn a lot of negative ratings, should raise a "troll-flag" already..

Would you believe a rich doctor?

Over the years I have realised the best way to enjoy this forum without rancour is to be a silent reader and sparingly contribute to threads which are worthy not to mention some light hearted jest every now and then. This is coming from a guy whose first name( before I changed it to Cherokee) was Trolla-Lala. I have done my share of trolling and have got my share of bans as well . I guess with time most people mature out of it except demented feral troglodytes on both sides whose entire online existence is about all that.

Now I just visit to read threads and rarely post . Best way to navigate madness of this place without getting mad yourself.

All self-respecting Indians have already left the forum. Only Indians with dubious record like @Joe Shearer and @Nilgiri are still active on this forum.

I fully agree with what you are saying.

I got into a discussion/argument with @AUSTERLITZ only once (back in 2014) ... The guy knew his history.

But the way he tried to insult Islam and Muslims ... There is no justification for it whatsoever

Considering how much Hinduism is insulted here, what makes you think Hindus are going to show the same level of respect to Islam?

On the other hand, I say that we increase the number of mods on PDF, introduce an Indian mod (my vote goes to @Joe Shearer ) that looks to diffuse situations like the above as they're happening or have happened and dishes out bans or negative ratings to anyone posting material abusing Hinduism or India a bit too much/regularly. We also need tighter control of the trolls on this forum, of every nationality, particularly Pakistani & Indian because they form the majority.

So your solution is making a dubious Indian and a declared self hating Hindu as an Indian Mod?

You might as well also give him a Pakistani passport then.

Who knows @Joe Shearer may already have one.

Finally when one member responded in kind knowing the consequences; he just did not lose his temper, he lost patience with this management knowing the incompetence of the administration here, he responded the way he did because you (the moderating team, admin and staff) failed him.

You should be the last person complaining against favoritism and unfair, biased treatment. In fact you should be no one to have any say on matters of how to act just, neutral and fair. Have some shame Please ..... a little if that is not much to expect, and remain silent.

I have personally never seen Areesh banned. Oscar assures me he himself has personally banned him a couple of times. I'm just saying I have never seen it. Maybe I was also on a ban at those rare instances, which is a higher statistical probability.

@Areesh is part of PDF staff. He is an undeclared Mod.

I think moderation is pretty weak here, Pakistani permabanned trolls are ruining every thread with their insults. This needs to be checked.

This forum was not so biased before nor did it tolerate such hatered and trolling. Sad!

There was a poster here named Penguin , I used to read each and every post of his. Now he no longer posts, which is a big loss to this forum. Similarly many good posters have left.

I also don’t login here nowadays since there are very less knowledgeable discussions on any new thread.

More Indian members should leave on their own accord.

The only reason to visit this forum was to interact with people of different viewpoints and engage in critical thought. In the decade that I've been a member, the place has deteriorated beyond repair which is evident from notable members resorting to insults and petty remarks (I've done it myself). I don't know what happened with AUSTERLITZ but I'm not at all surprised. Favouritism and discrimination has always been systemic in this place but it was tolerable because of the aforementioned reason. However, it has become visceral and ubiquitous as of late.

Honestly, I believe exposing yourself to such nonsense can only have a detrimental effect on your perception of the world, your view on history and peoples of different cultures. I think it's unfortunate that such an advanced and effective medium of communication (information technology) is being used to spread misinformation and hatred on such a massive scale.

I really hope that the 20 something year olds from India, Pakistan and wherever else opt to spend more time learning about the world by exploring it and interacting with others face-to-face. If you are an expat who happens to live in Europe or North America, you literally have no excuse.

Self respecting Indians have already left. There are two groups of Indians here.

Indian members with dubious record like @Joe Shearer @Nilgiri

and then we have Indian members like @Shankranthi who think they have to counter the Pakistani propaganda and get banned in that process.
