Woman is flogged by her husband as punishment for adultery before being sexually abused in india

Don't talk rubbish.

Courts in India don't work, and the lawyers will rob you blind.

Only a fool or a very very Rich man will ever go to the courts.

The whole part about "sexual assault " is fake.

She had an affair and had eloped with her lover. She was caught and the case was brought before the Panchayat.

After her punishment, the video went viral and the police got involved.

When the police came to take her statement, she made the charges of "sexual assault" against the panchayat members since those are Non Bailable offence.
I presume this community is composed of the followers of Vedic Dharm? Or are they Bharati Muslims?

.
And what kind of wife, back stabs his husband and engages in an affair with another man?

I don't know what I'd do in a similar situation so cannot comment but I don't think I'd sit on it like a pudhu and do nothing

.
Those village elders must be hung till dead and villages rid of "traditional" culture.

The husband could have simply taken recourse to a family court instead of those village elders.

By the way, similar things happen in Pakistan too.
And why was that last sentence necessary? Do u see what the thread is about? How about keeping ur discussion relevant to the thread...and if u really can't control the urge to bring in Pakistan for something like this then go ahead and open a separate thread with some sort of incident like that happening in Pak. Then u can discuss it there slinging mud to ur heart's content.

And what kind of wife, back stabs his husband and engages in an affair with another man?
I don't know the details of their relationship but by publicly beating his wife like an animal...it only goes to show what the husband must have been like towards her. With that kind of a husband I'm not surprised she decided to run away with someone else as an escape

...and though morally not right but usually women in these kinds of villages don't have many other options.

It's normal in India for husbands to hit their women domestic violence happens every day in India why should a woman stay with her husband if he abuses her?

Every Third Woman In India Suffers Sexual, Physical Violence at Home

According to the survey, 27 per cent of women have experienced physical violence since the age 15 in India. This experience of physical violence among women is more common in rural areas than among women in urban areas. Domestic violence cases, where women reported physical abuse in rural and urban areas, were at 29 per cent and 23 percent, respectively.

India face significant barriers to obtaining justice and critical support services. The report, Everyone Blames Me’: Barriers to Justice and Support Services for Sexual Assault Survivors in India, found that women and girls who survive rape and other sexual violence often suffer humiliation at police stations and hospitals.

Under Indian law, police officers who fail to register a complaint of sexual assault face up to two years in prison. However, Human Rights Watch found that police did not always file a First Information Report (FIR), the first step to initiating a police investigation, especially if the victim was from an economically or socially marginalized community.

Most of the domestic violence, sexual violence, and marital rape cases in India are also never reported. Going by the pure numbers, these cases are grossly under-reported when comparing the National Family Health Survey and the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data.

Lack of trained counsellors who can help domestic abuse victims and little access to legal aid also adds to the misery of these victims.

Education Makes A Difference

Irrespective of all the abuse meted to women at their homes, there still is a silver lining.

The main distinguishing factor in acceptance of domestic violence is education, much more than income, or even age. The report stated that experience of domestic violence, including physical and sexual violence decreases sharply with schooling and education.

By schooling, the percentage of women who report physical violence declined from 38 per cent among women with no schooling to 16 per cent among women with 12 or more years of formal education.

Similarly, experience of sexual violence decreases sharply with schooling from eight per cent among women with no schooling to three per cent among women with 12 or more years of schooling.
Education does, however, not automatically translate in a lower incidence of domestic violence.

Like I said it's normal and these men even boldly go on national telivison and seem to be proud of hitting a woman.

The dress of the wife indicates hindu, though she could be muslim too since the area is a muslim majority one.

I wasn't comparing the difference, I was suggested we have our own penal codes and I wouldn't want others to criticise it. Basically, we have our ways and they have theirs, and we leave it as such.
And I agree with what you said about the difference between our shariah code, and Hindu traditions, hence why I called them animals.

at the end of the day ancient and modern societies have troubles handling adultery

It was a punishment passed by the panchayat and if you look at the composition of the crowd, it consisted of women too.

The public flogging is to remind others in the village not to indulge in extra maritial affair, though most times such rules for indiscretion can be more relaxed for men and stricter for women.

This is not the 1940's. If a women want, she can easily walk away from her husband and take shelter with her parents or with any NGO that offer support to women. Even in villages, especially in villages.

Naturally there will be pressure on her to save her marriage, but if the husband is abusive, the panchayat will shame the husband too. (though as a rule the panchayat will never interfere in a personal dynamics of a husband wife relationship)

This women had plenty of options, she choose the second worse option possible. The only thing worse than this is killing her husband to be with her lover.

In the US for example, if the husband was to kill the wife for committing adultry, the jury would have found him Not guilty due to temporary insanity.

There has been plenty of cases of this kind.

not likely ... if a man finds out his wife cheated on him
he kills his wife in a spontaneous act of violence
he might escape the death penalty because there is no pre-meditation involved
beyond that you cannot expect much

OJ Simpson was divorced from Nicole in 1992. It is not a good example. OJ could have been mad at Nicole for seeing another dude

Divorce is just a legal name for a wife running away from her husband. But the underlying story is the same.

Well, I thought the intention of the OP was to troll India ( Indians also troll Pakistanis ), because nationalist mud-slinging is common on PDF.
