Hello,

Anybody tried Windows 8 on Macbook yet? is it good? how was your experience with it? Which software do you recommend for installing windows on Mac? Parralels Desktop, VmWare or Virtualbox? I am seriously considering installing windows 8 on my Mac but never tried this before... so seeking an advice :D

.
Sell your mac, use the money to buy a new Windows 8 laptop with a touch screen.

I have Windows 8 and I really like, but it really shines with a touch screen, so my next laptop will be touchscreen laptop with win8.

I don't know if good Touch screen laptops will be available any time soon. I had a touch screen laptop from HP about 2 years ago (with pen) and didn't like it after few days... So may be this new version will be good enough to force me back from Macbook Pro retina version to Windows (that is very unlikely)... so lets see - easy way is to install windows 8 in my macbook and enjoy :D

Bro try Parallel desktop but my suggestion will be to stick to Mac. Windows will take years to give the same user experience what Mac provides. It will be waste of memory space installing windows on Mac. :disagree:

I was thinking to install trial version of Windows 8 to see how it performs... but I could only get "windows 8 preview" version which I have already used for couple of weeks/months on my old laptop... searching to see if I find the trial of full windows 8 version and see how it performs on Parallel desktop (also trial version) and see if I need to buy it

Any advice will be highly appreciated

Dont buy it:devil:. Try torrent ... i think you will get the full windows 8 version there along with the authorization keys (i will try to google it for you if it is there). Anyways have you upgraded to Mountain Lion. If yes then how is it compared to Snow Leopard. I have been thinking to upgrade it to Mountain Lion for a while.

When I purchased this Mac I got mountain lion for free :D --- It was probably preinstalled or I just upgraded on the very first day (can't remember now)... It's definitely much better than every operating system in the world

Correct that was my point. Nothing comes even near to Mac :yahoo:. Also it will be very confusing to use both Mac and windows 8 on a parallel desktop. You know what i mean. I bought Macbook pro a long back so got Snow Leopard instead. I was simply lazy not to upgrade it. Anyways thanks for the feedback on mountain lion. I will try to post a torrent link if i will find for windows 8.

But on a second thought ... If you are into hardcore programming ... then i recommend you go for windows. Its really hard to install any work related software on Mac. I have still not able to install Oracle on my Mac. I finally gave up . Very frustrating indeed.

You can't compare a compute from 2 years ago with a brand new laptop with windows 8 now.
I tested a touch screen laptop at a store a few days ago and it was amazing.
It was also pretty cheep, about 700 Canadian dollars.

If you want to install it on mac, Windows 8 is pretty cheap. It's about 40 dollars canadian if you download from them and 70 if you buy the DVD

I would beg to differ
(the fanboy in me is coming out :P )

Don't post torrent links as they are not allowed in this forum

I managed to download full version of windows 8 from internet with intentions of purchasing officially from microsoft after thoroughly experimenting with it. I was amazed that it took only 5 minutes to install in my laptop (could be because I have flash drive in my mac and not the hard drive which takes much longer) - and so far loving it... there has been major design changes in windows but still it is getting difficult to understand everything. I installed my forex software in windows and skype from the app store of microsoft and they both looking nice. The text/fonts are not that good though but may be I can change it somehow... it's looking nice and i will give my input later if anybody is interested

Will thoroughly test it after few hours of sleep

Sir the retina version of Macbook pro was only released in June 2012 so it's hardly 5 months old in the market... and i was not among the first customers so expect shorter time

Right now, I find no reason to switch back to windows but I will definitely consider if a good touch screen system is introduced in the market with affordable price

Good to hear that, I would definitely consider if it's around 700 Canadian dollars when being sold in UK

It's £49.99 in UK for Windows 8 pro

or £24.99 if upgrading

I would beg to differ

May be because you have never tested or have little experience about Mac operating system?
