In one, King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa inquires from US interlocutors about the extent of India's involvement in Afghanistan and notes that Bahrain sees India as very positive force in the region. "It's a new era," he says. "They can be of great help."

In another document, UAE's crown prince Mohammed Bin Zayed, referred to as MBZ in the cables, supports the US decision to sell F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan arguing that it would not tilt the balance of power, and even if it did, "India's strength as a stable democracy would ensure that it would not ever be in as 'risky' a situation as its neighbor."

Piero Fassino, head of the foreign policy department of the opposition Partito Democratico's (PD) tells his US interlocutors that the greatest risk with nuclear proliferation is that irresponsible governments like the one in Iran could gain access to nuclear arms, and adds that the "PD assessed that there was little to fear with nations such as India, Britain, and France having nuclear weapons."

In another cable, former Austrian Ambassador to Tehran Michael Postl tells his US interlocutors that that the US should not shy away from interviews with Iranian media outlets. In fact, the US diplomat who sent the cable notes, "a program built around broadcasting the differing opinions of the US, India ('because its opinion is well-respected given its influence as a leader in the non-aligned movement'), and Iran might be a useful way to get our messages across while counteracting perceptions of bias.

As much as I despise Mr. 10%, I don't agree. Military dictatorship, regardless of the capability of the leadership, was more of an obstacle to Pak progress than democracy under Zardari. The difference has to do with the consensus-type politics of the military. Without civilian leadership, this automatically favors conservatism and inflexibility. Decisive political decisions that could cause division within the ranks were impossible, so a sustained offensive against terrorist elements (which carried the possibility of career failure for the officers involved, if unsuccessful) was out of the question until Zardari arrived on the scene.

I translate that as suicidal wars for the advancement of American imperial goals in Asian region was impossible under qualified military regime while the money greedy zardari is willing to sell anything and everything for a price. Seriously the much propagated Pakistani dictatorship wasn't all that undemocratic once mushraff stepped down as army chief.

Provided the leaks have an element of truth..so far they are just psy-op operations to set the stage for division between Pakistan and its allies..setting the smaller GCC countries in a "pro-indian" lime light and causing a major uproar in three powerful islamic block countries ie: Pakistan, Iran and Saudi Arabia...

stage is being set for future wars in the muslim world..WOT can rightfully be called war against islam.

Wikileaks is just an evidence how US intelligence fool its decision makers and public by acting as double agents to India.

It also exposed the puppets of network working for the larger interest of India.

Wikileaks totally missed the RAW's association with TTP, ANP, and Bugti's son.

Most interesting part is whole wikileaks proves that US personally have no objection to Iran's nuclear development. While it is Arabs who are forcing him to act against Iran.

Well.... i'm not sure about other's but i will not swallow this pill of weired assumption.
IMO.... wikileaks actually put Iran in suspicious position... looking at his open co-operation with US in wars against Iraq and Afghanistan.

We all know recently Hamid Karzai have accepted that he has taken cash from Iran upon advise of Bush which was used to disperse to unknown contractors. (TTP)

That is the stage being set to attack Iran. America wants to show it as a Arab Vs Persian or Sunni vs Shia conflict while attempting to keep its own hands clean..also Americans much tarnished reputation in the Muslim world need an uplifting and nothing would deliver it as fast as pitting majority Muslim sect (sunni) against a rival (shia) but minority one.. remember how Islam was pitted against communism to justify wars against soviet union..nothing bothers an enemy more than unity..more importantly Muslim unity..remember America has been the atomic force in keeping arab vs persian and sunni vs shia conflict alive to advance its own imperial goals..First it was shah against the arabs, then Saddam against the Persians, then shia vs sunnis then taliban vs northern alliance..the cycle never stops but we are too ignorant to connect the dots..
