Nonsense. Soviet Union is stronger than ever after WWII. It kick start the space race and US chase behind, only when they landed on moon that they overtake Soviet Union.

If US aircraft carrier won the era of WWII. China missile will rule WWIII. China can strike power station, important infrastructure to force US to stop conventional war against China. If US goes nuclear, US will be wipe out too. So It will be a draw between US and China in conventional warfare.

Your missing the point Soviets had military strength but that's it. Millions of its people were dead, large parts of its country were in ruin. Its economy was a fraction the size of usa. Usa had military, economic, technical strengths. The soviets never developed an effective trading mechanism with its satellite nations. The usa did... and the dollar became the reserve currency of the world which it remains to this day.

US can send troops to foreign countries by using neighboring countries as a staging ground for their forces. Other countries don't have this ability against US, they only have Canada and Mexico as neighbors.

China has no interest in challenging the US to a full scale war, their goal is purely Asian domination. Mind you, with the US presence in South Korea, Japan, and other countries along the Pacific Rim China will run up against the US regularly (and China and SK will hold tight to the US until it becomes economically unprofitable to do so). Economically China hopes to make the yuan the world's reserve currency and that is an achievable goal, especially if they succeed in producing the area denial abilities their military is bent towards.

Soviets trailed behind USA in many technical fields

Reasons are:-
1. Huge area with natural resources,
2. Massive Navy
3. Technology
4. Most importantly, USA is placed on perfect location on the Globe. No other power can invade USA. Countries like Canada, Mexico cant imagine to challenge USA economically or militarily.

Proprietary technology and constant innovation is one major reason that keeps the US in a position of global dominance. There are American companies that are wealthier than entire countries, these companies have technology than other countries don't have.

When the US stops innovating then we can have discussions on decline, but right now innovation is going on in so many fields the growth is crazy.

I mean even the SpaceX's re-usable rocket technology is unprecedented, the BFR system they are working on is more advance than what other country's airforces can do.
