1. Russia has NO money; russian economic system was basically dead since the collapse of soviet union in 1991; since then its industrial production and workforce decreased almost one third and NEVER recovered back to what soviet union was

2. Russia has ONLY old industies like oil and gas; now even those industries are going dead due to ongoing decreasing demands, which are expected worse in the future; russia even lost soviet manufacturing industries like shipbuilding, aircraft, steel, arms etc; former state factories are mostly shut down due to lack of funds; so russia can't even reproduce what soviet produced

3. Russia CAN'T change it; now it's been 30 years since the collapse of soviet union but it still feeds on soviet industry and has no overall plan to change; in the 21st century, Money Rules the World; you should be able to always keep changing your economy the most productive not only to boost standard of living of your country but also to keep staying the global power

it seems that russians (and some pro-russian foreigners on this forum) want soviet power back despite they lost soviet capabilities; russia should know it couldn't even stay status quo with its ongoing industry

I do not believe that Russia is a top failing state though it is a failing state. It is the ideology which makes any nation Flower or fail. Nobody would have ever thought that such a mighty super power will regress so much. There are numerous examples. Many countries with natural wealth , resources, dynamic demography are failing because of their ideology. Many poor nation has risen beyond imagination because of their hard work and ideology. Ideology matters.

Dude you make no sense... Every industry that has been privatized in Pakistan is thriving today, from telecom, IT, too banking. We are an industrius people. Every single state owned enterprise in Pakistan is running at a huge loss. All the funds that have used to prop these failing state owned enterprise could have been used to provide universal education for all children in Pakistan by now plus wed still have billions left over...

i remember there was a time russian products like air conditioners and other home appliance used to sell across the world but now they are no more available in market,I think putin lacks vision and should end leading russia and handover leadership to some more capable person who better understands about how economic progress takes place,drinking excess whine and involvement in drugs have destroyed russian thinking capability

Saints Petersburg is Russia's main port and is only accessible about 3 months in the whole year due to its weather. The other 9 months it is frozen. This is why Russia has always looked for a warm water port.

not really; russia has its territory only in Eurasia; Guam to Washington DC over 12,000 km
rather, many russians told me that russia was tremendously jealous of US economy when it was heavily sanctioned in 2014 and it could NOT fight back
