What's new

Why Russia and India do not have consumer electronics companies like China does?

US used to have really good companies like Compaq, RCA.

now they're dead. now you can believe they're dead because they voluntarily decided to hate money and for "environmentalism" (LMAO!!) or because of how uncompetitive they are and shit business decisions.

. .
what river lmao? there are no year round rivers in Arizona except the Colorado which is nowhere near Phoenix.

failure of PCB and electronics manufacturing in the US isn't due to some environmental concerns. It's simply that other than Intel which puts its plants in the middle of suburbs and urban areas, other companies aren't competitive. UAE bought Global Foundries a few years back and now they're regretting it, forcing GloFo to cancel their EUV project and focus on profitability.

Apparently Intel has cut a deal with Chandler to supply and purify their water system. Not exactly something most communities would agree to do. Seems they found their spot in a desperate desert community. I wouldn't drink the water.

Yet each day, 2 million gallons of industrial wastewater -- enough to fill at least 30,000 bathtubs -- are piped from Intel plants in Chandler, Arizona, to a facility a mile away where it’s treated, then returned to an underground aquifer. Intel, the city’s largest employer, recycles about 60 percent of its water and is expanding the treatment facilities and increasing the amount it reuses as the company finishes a $5 billion plant that will build more efficient computer chips.

For most manufacturers, the leftover effluent or concentrated dissolved salts that result from making chips often ends up in a sewer. Intel cleans its supply to drinking-quality standards and helps replenish groundwater beneath the city 25 miles (40 kilometers) east of Phoenix.

Chandler is a suburb of Phoenix, the largest and fastest growing city in the Southwest. It isn't exactly poor or desperate. Intel Arizona is but one example. There's also chemical plants built in the middle of suburbs in Houston..

it is the colorado river waters that are being used in Intel Arizona facility

Yeah, there was only 29,673 people living in it the year Intel moved there. Now there's 250,000+. I wonder what the household income was before the chipmaker rode into town.

For example Hisense, Xiaomi, Lenovo.

I can understand Russia since their population is less than 150 million and the vast majority of their corporations are already employing their masses in the oil and gas industry so the availability of local talent pool maybe an issue. but as far as india is concerned, frankly, it's just not in the indian dna to be able to handle the intense engineering pressures of the electronics industry. they just can't handle it, tends to make em go like this, as if someone just slammed a foot up their @ss!

India are no where near these levels, this isn't even a question.

Xiaomi and Lenovo are leagues and leagues past whatever India has to offer. Leave them to their products only suitable for domestic use.

Not on India what they or don't produce but...

Lenevo got everything from IBM......where is innovation?

Xiaomi, Hisense are PLA funded venture. Plus since most of the companies have component manufacturing in China..it's easy to source, assemble and sell...isn't it? By the way, Hisense is non-sense when it comes to quality and after sales service compared to Samsung/LG. You ask any big white goods retailer here (JB Hi-Fi, Good Guys, Dick Smith etc).. everyone will clear your concepts about Hisense.

By the way..on Title..."
Why Russia and India do not have consumer electronics companies like China does?"

Because they are not good in stealing technologies, and copying.

Dont forget: Haier, TCL, Midea, Gree; their quality is good.

This is ridiculous and invalid argument.

Brand has nothing to do with stealing technology. You can steal but you probably can't make good products nor established brands.

Besides, Rusia and India lag far behind China in IP and innovation. Check how many innovations and patents coming from those brands: Xiaomi, Huawei, BOE, etc.

Until Acer bought them

compaq took Intel microprocessors, Western Digital hard drives and Microsoft Windows operating systems. They glued them together. They did a better job than other PC vendors.

I thought HP bought Compaq

Xiaomi Ranks 4th in BrandZ Top 50 Global Brands, OPPO Follows in 6th Place

It is criminal do compare China and India.

The better comparison would be to compare India to a sub-Saharan country.
And it still be an insult to sub Saharan countries. As Indians regard them as less than Dalits.

can’t get more racist than these views.
