What's new

why pakistan is backward ?

He has consistently been throwing weak Indian insults for a while. He just does to throw people off-track.
Yeah that’s the game plan, throw a few weak ones to throw off people, but it’s obvious he’s Indian. Even the name Abdul - I’ve noticed Hindus use that as a derogatory term for Muslims. Even some of the more ballsier members. I won’t disclose openly what I’ve found to be the common pattern to tell a Hindu behind a Muslim name. Don’t want to give my knowledge to them.

In my view, it is beysharmi of the elite among whose number I include the great Khan.

By South Asian standards, Pakistani society has done about as well as its neighbours. Important to highlight here that there was no such entity as GOP before August 14, 1947. So people who built Pakistan started from scratch and I mean literally. In reading about early days of Pakistan, we come across stories of government officials doing their work while sitting outside in the midday sun and using pathar for paper weight and kaanta for paperclip. And these officials were dealing with a challenge that had few precedence in human history. GOP officials had to handle migration/refugees on a scale that would be a challenge for any government even in this day and age. At the same time, sarkar had to deal with a bully neighbor which was much more powerful, had not reconciled to Pakistan's independence while denying the rightful share of assets to the country. And on the west, we had Afghanistan. Equally as important, there was a powerful section of the local elite who never wanted Pakistan in the first place. Here I am referring to forces supporting parties like the Unionist Party, Khudai Khidmathgaar and even members of Muslim League in Sindh and Bengal. And it was these elements who asserted their control after the two leaders who created Pakistan disappeared from the scene. The instability created by infighting among the political elite created space for the army to move in. Nor was army intervention unique to Pakistan. Post WWII, majority of non communist Asian countries have experienced long periods of army rule.

Unlike the elite, awam craved stability and supported nationalist elements. Army takeover therefore has received widespread support. In addition, army rule under Ayub and Musharraf delivered on the economic front. This caused khujlee to traditional elite as economic growth means change in political structure i.e. economic growth transfers power from traditional elite whose power base is in rural area to new daulatya based in urban centres. Hence Bhutto's nationalization program whose target were groups that were gaining power at the expense of landed elite.

What is different in the current crises is that army has taken the place of anti-nationalist elements while the most powerful political party is now playing the role traditionally played by the army. Anti-nationalist elements, with the help of foreign backing, put their differences aside and got together to overthrow Musharraf. After that, they set to work on weakening army as illustrated by memogate controversy and Dawn-leaks. With the appointment of Bajwa, anti-nationalist elements finally achieved their goals and we see the disaster this development has caused to Pak.

Bhutto, for all his faults, garnered support because he played the nationalist card. Khan otoh has followed a direction that is a good indication of confused mindset of Pak elite of educated variety. Instead of acting on behalf of people of Pak, he has championed cause of taliban who are no friends of Pakistan. In process he has alienated Americans when there was no need. And he has pushed dangerous and simplistic belief among his support base that project of Pakistan has been an economic and political failure - an idea that enemy has propagated from day one.

The problem Khan is facing is entirely of his own making. Sadly things did not have to be this way. Likes of Jinnah don't arise everyday. Arab world has yet to produce a leader like him. So to answer the question, we are backwards because we deserve to be. We had a leader who gave us all the answers. We ignored him at our peril and consequences are for all to see.

That's what my great pal Yasser Latif Hamdani has been saying for close to two decades, but to no avail.

Sorry to be blunt, but your friend only says things which supports his own mindset - a mindset that makes him look good in front of goras.

Jinnah had many things to say about backwardness of the people - religious bigotry being only one of them.

His infamous Aug 11 speech highlighted many problematic aspects of Pakistani society. All these things still exist today perhaps in even greater magnitude than during his day. In fact, ironically, one area where there has been progress is that religion plays a very limited role in determining state policy. This is in contrast to eighties and nineties. But little progress has been made on other fronts:

..The second thing that occurs to me is this: One of the biggest curses from which India is suffering -- I do not say that other countries are free from it, but I think our condition is much worse -- is bribery and corruption. That really is a poison. We must put that down with an iron hand, and I hope that you will take adequate measures as soon as it is possible for this Assembly to do so.

Black-marketing is another curse. Well, I know that black-marketeers are frequently caught and punished. Judicial sentences are passed, or sometimes fines only are imposed. Now you have to tackle this monster, which today is a colossal crime against society, in our distressed conditions, when we constantly face shortage of food and other essential commodities of life. A citizen who does black-marketing commits, I think, a greater crime than the biggest and most grievous of crimes. These black-marketeers are really knowing, intelligent, and ordinarily responsible people, and when they indulge in black-marketing, I think they ought to be very severely punished, because they undermine the entire system of control and regulation of foodstuffs and essential commodities, and cause wholesale starvation and want and even death.

[[5]] The next thing that strikes me is this: Here again it is a legacy which has been passed on to us. Along with many other things, good and bad, has arrived this great evil -- the evil of nepotism and jobbery. I want to make it quite clear that I shall never tolerate any kind of jobbery [=corrupt employment practices], nepotism, or any any influence directly or indirectly brought to bear upon me. Whenever I will find that such a practice is in vogue or is continuing anywhere, low or high, I shall certainly not countenance it...."

What the great man highlighted above are exactly the things IK is fighting against. Misgovernment/malgovernment impacts average Pakistani far more than the issue of religious chauvinism. The fact that you only hear about the "you are free to go to your temple" phrase is because that's what makes english speaking elite look good in front of goras. In fact goras back the corrupt elements that Jinnah assails in his speech above. But his assertions are ignored for obvious reasons.

You are mistaken both about YLH and myself. We are aware of his contribution towards various aspects of state craft.

About subordination of military to civilian rule.
About democracy and rule of law.
About fair labour laws and distributive justice
About the status of women in society.

and as you rightly highlight bribery and nepotism

Another propaganda attempt from hindu trolls the biggest backward country in the world is india where you can't eat and slaughter cows because hindus consider cows and other animals as their God riots takes place in india if you eat cows beef etc

Army generals are the one's who hijacked the country from the last 75 years who are solely responsible for the country ills. Its like black smith running the IT software house and when they get caught out then they change the tune and blame someone else and brand them traitors.
Until country is free from these hob nobs Pakistan is only going into the ground.
Only way out is to do it the french way... prepare the guillotine and public to take control of the state. How much shit can Pak people take is beyond me.

Before there was U-Turn Khan, there was Jinnah, who took the biggest u-turn of em all; he went from being the ambassador of Hindu Muslim unity to prime force behind creation of Pakistan.

Same Jinnah who opposed the creation of separate electorate yet later fought tooth and nail, the right of Congress to appoint a Muslim representative to different viceroy counsels.

Same Jinnah who is portrayed as a died-in-the-wool democrat yet wanted Muslims to have thirty percent representation in the centre.

It is safe to assume when confronted with jaanwers responsible with the following scenes, he would have changed his mind about "civilian supremacy".

Those who dont embrace new tech will soon be begging for hand outs from those who do. We limited imports of PC's in the 80s applying heavy tax and Taiwan on the other hand started forming companies for micro chips, govt funded.

We're just silly ppls, not serious about winning. Its not in our jeans. The East Asians laugh at us. They too were colonized, nuked even but they win.
Our ancestors the Indus Valley ppl were losers too, they never grew their civiliation and were wiped out. History repeats.

PC/Tech parts were tax free or reduced tax before PTI.

I said this will hurt Pakistan tech and backwards decision by PTI when rest of the world is encouraging sales.

Everyday other parties are bashed here but they didn’t do as many stupid policies as PTI has. Proof

Abdul Rehman Pajeet has finally been banned

Literally the most annoying BJP IT cell POS that litters here 24/7.

I hope its perma ban this time.

He has/had like 5 other accounts (or more), maybe some of those will return.... there is a deep obsession and inferiority complex at play.

Let's not just blame the army. I witnesses first-hand on my latest trip to Pakistan that society is also rotten to the core, which is why god has blessed us with such a leadership. On a micro level, there is no regard or respect for the country. everyone is out for themselves to show how they can get one up on their friends/relatives. If anyone goes towards success, he/she is pulled right back down. We must fix u on the grass roots level in order to fix the nation as a whole. Think the below sums it up pretty well. It's the little details that count.

All muslim countries are like this recently. Nothing special about Pakistan.
