Why it's important to remember the 1965 war between India and Pakistan

Which unfortunate town is this only 13 km
Ask the facts from Nawaz Sharif according to him 4000 Pakistani died in Kargil war.

Nawaz sharif is a dickhead... Who cares about him? He was the one who called off the army from a winning check posts during the Kargil conflict. It was Pakistan who won Kargil on a battlefield. Even Musharraf went inside 10 km of Indian territory and spent the entire night.. LOL... Due to the American pressure and our corrupt governance, you made it as your own victory. You Indians will remain losers.

Be sensible. 1962 was due to Indian carelessness. IAF was never mobilised and the war reports are still classified. But at least the excuse was there that China had the world's largest army.

Pakistan is a smaller country than India and yet India had to struggle against Pakistan. Why is that? India being the larger country should have a natural dominance over Pakistan. 1965 did not turn out a favorable war for India.

In 1962 - Pakistan wasnt much smaller than India (east and west pakistan combined)

You are a loser.. Get you facts first

Pakistan was condemned by United States in 1965 and by 1969 Sino Soviet war changed the regional equation and even during that time India exhibited its matuarity. Indian planners were aware that both Chinese and Soviets would have used Nukes in 1969.

Whoever is giving me the negative ratings, he can go and fu*k himself. Give me 10 more..

We do produce everything in our 41 ordnance factories and 8 public enterprises and on that we are having more than 150 private defense companies. Indian Defense expenditure is there not only for our needs but even to become arms exporter. Already India is exporting defense equipment as rifles, radars, naval vessels, helicopters.

Yes, everything except tanks, fighter jets, rifles, other military equipment. If India was such a production power-house then India would not have been world's biggest defence importer and India would not have sent request for proposals for everything from jets to assault rifles. Even tanks are being imported.

Who is importing INSAS rifles from India? Nepal did during their civil war and they are cursing the INSAS rifle even today. Many Nepali soldiers lost their lives because the worthless rifle would jam at critical situations, it is heavy, holds only 20 rounds and has a total lack of suppressing firepower.

Those naval vessels you speak off are patrol boats and other light craft. Technically it is navy but not in the same league as frigates, submarines and destroyers.

In case you didn't notice, i didn't post pictures of dead Indian soldiers or destroyed Indian tanks or planes.....what i posted was some of the equipment surrendered by the Indian forces.

Yes I noticed what you posted and it is also true that the Pakistanis too fled from the battlefield leaving behind tanks, artillery etc. 1965 was a disaster for both countries. It was a stalemate and no objective was achieved.

In 1962 - Pakistan wasnt much smaller than India (east and west pakistan combined)

It was a smaller country. Land mass does not fight, people fight. The population and armed forces of India (plus land mass) were larger than Pakistan.

Insas rifle is even now in use by Nepal and Oman militaries but the fact is this that India do export weapons from its ordnance factories and if i remember correctly according to one article in Press bureau of Information around 24 countries do buy weapons and ammunation from India.

Recently India has applied for the membership of MTCR and by September/October might joined the 34 countries MTCR group after that Indian made missiles can be exported.

Goa Shipyard Limited is currently working on Defence Ministry's order of twelve mine countermeasure vessels (MCMV) costing Rs 32,000 crore.

GRSE has constructed and delivered as many as 84 warships for the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard. Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE), is the premier Warship building Company in India, under the administrative control of Ministry of Defence. GRSE since 1960, has built 91 warships for various roles, starting from state of the art Frigates & Corvettes to Fast Patrol Boats

Rear Admiral (Retd.) Mishra said that he was optimistic that the Indian Navy would place another order for a second refit by the HSL. The shipyard had experience of refitting two Egyptian submarines during the 1970s. Though much of that experience could not be salvaged, the systems for refit of submarines that were put in place at that time were still functional and they were put to good use.

Nepal still curses the INSAS and it is highly doubtful they would continue using the rifle if they had the resources to buy others. They would preferably use kalashnikovs. And Oman does not use INSAS, who told you that?

Indian army has sent RFIs for foreign made tanks because they know it is hopeless to expect anything from DRDO.

The INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) 5.56mm rifle is the standard service rifle of the Indian Army and is also used by the armies of Bhutan, Nepal and Oman.

Commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman, Air Vice Marshal Matar Ali Matar Al-Abaidaniw as in India this week on a goodwill visit. He met his Indian counterpart, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha in New Delhi and discussed matters of mutual interest. The IAF and Oman Air Force have several aircraft in common which include the Jaguar, Hawks, C-130, Dornier and Pilatus and has conducted periodic joint exercises. India has close defence ties with Oman, which lies on the western edge of the Arabian Sea and overlooks the sea route into the Persian Gulf. India is a defence equipment supplier to the Gulf state and in fact, the primary weapon of the Oman Army is the INSAS rifle made by the Indian Ordnance Factory.

Why don't you put up pictures of Oman army using INSAS? Even a link would do. Do not send me articles from some 3rd grade newspaper that was printed a year ago.

However, the Pakistan army’s Commander-in-Chief Mohammad Musa was not entirely convinced about Operation Gibraltar. In a telling comment, General Musa wrote: “The policy-makers thwarted the professional assessment and advice on matters having grave military implications because of their miscalculation of the politico-strategic situation and the over-ambitiousness of a few individuals involved in decision-making who were prompted by their desire to achieve some quick and spectacular results in Kashmir by clandestine operations.” Musa was mainly talking about Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who had prevailed upon President Mohammad Ayub, that the time was ripe to wrest Kashmir from India once and for all. Fifty years on, it is difficult to believe that the Pakistani Army — currently considered as the ‘deep state’ and perhaps the final arbiter of the nation’s destiny — could have been overruled by a politician like Bhutto.

The author is currently writing a book on the 1965 war between India and Pakistan.

Is it a tradition to blame civillians like Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for flawed judgment/decision making of the Pakistani army generals ?
