Why is there no Automobile Insurance in Pakistan?

A very good point raised by op. Auto insurance should be mandatory for all kinds of vehicles. It will greatly reduce the insurance cost people are paying at the moment. If my memory serves me right I bought insurance for one year for my new car for 50000 six months earlier. If auto insurance was mandatory in Pakistan this much money could have bought lifetime insurance.
You can never get insurance for more then 1 year, had to be renew yearly. In India my 7 lac Nissan Sunny 1st year Insurance with Zero depreciation was of 15000 Indian Rs would have got similar in pakistan if it is made mandatory.

1. There is auto insurance in Pakistan, although it's not mandatory.
2. General insurance isn't haram. Life insurance is controversial among muslims, but that's why there's Takaful.

Life insurance is controversial among muslims

I can imagine. Most imaginative policy options nowadays actually do come across as maximizing gain from your death, beyond the point of need. Where it becomes a "bang for buck" equation more than simple protection.

Well my points are still valid

a) Auto insurance is not mandatory (Nation Wide)
b) May be 0.01 % people carry this benefit , many don't even know it exists
c) Not many even know such items are needed and it's importance in society
d) Nationwide Insurance data base is not connected with traffic police system

Life insurance is not controversial , there are advertisement all over Pakistani Newspaper / Channels

Pakistani Banking sector was quite Big in 60's and 70's so such commercials were common in 80's and infact even now many people have life insurance

Auto Insurance did not catch on as much as banks became weaker after 80's and there was lack of Government governance to introduce mandatory Car insurance nation wide

There was boost in cars on road really after 80's same with Motor cycles so the policy making was not at same speed as introduction of cars and motor bikes on road.

There are too many insurance companies in Pakistan. Perhaps you meant that it is not mandatory like in some other countries?

Insurance goes up every time you get into an accident and Pakistanis are the masters of road rage and auto mobile accidents.

Sorry, you're mistaken. I suggest you check your statements with a Mufti first before you mislead others as you'll take share in their sin.

All insurance, whether car, life is haram. There is no dispute in this matter. HOWEVER, those living in where it is the LAW OF THE LAND to have car insurance, then you're allowed to have the minimum cover.

I always keep my car insured in pakistan.
My insurance company provides a sattelite tracker with capability of jamming the car free with comprehensive insurance..

Its not necessary in pakistan but highly adviseable for new and expensive cars

Please show me a source.

Go and study Islam! I'm not here to teach basics of Islam especially those who claim to be Muslims. If you read my posts, i only make an exception to non-Muslims and provide sources and evidences.

  • becuase its unislamic (insurance is not allowed in islam)
  • Because repair , parts and labor is cheaper, then whats the point ?

Please provide the actual reference of Ayat or actual Hadiath that refer to insurance and its prohibition.

Then your claims are just claims and unproven. Means you are not

Nobody has time to go to some mufti, A mufti has no value beyond being an individual you cannot back up. either prove your claims, or keep your blind and dead faith to yourself.

As for Mufti's , the term was used for LOWEST of the learnt people of Islam. Their status is that of a oath commissioner who can only verify what is written by scholars and what is not. In this case, you are not even being honest enough to bring forward whatever mufti came up with this claim.

Until you prove it, you claim is complete and utter hogwash for all members.

In India auto insurance is mandatory...sometimes I really feel the law is just to promote the insurance sector and create job rather than a genuine intention to help auto owners....
Its third party liability insurance that is mandatory. Which is protection for the vehicle& person you do the damage against.
You can skip insuring your car no issues.

Well other than mandated 3rd party liability insurance, insurance for own car is just a big lottery. If you drive well or in a place where crime/natural calamities dont occur it is a useless one. Every year the insurance company makes some good money and keep it for themselves. Its a govt sponsored ponzi scheme.

For ppl who have accident record, insurance goes up significantly. Say if you are driving a car occasionally once in a while the probability of accident is less but you will still pay minimum insurance. So why bother having insurance, drive safe and well avoid insurance!
