These players are retirement grade players who peaked pre 2010. Its 2015 my friend.
India removed 9 players from the world cup winning 2011 squad and planned ahead for this world cup.
Pakistan continued with under performing seniors such as Younis Khan, Malik, Hafeez, Kamran Akmal, Imran Farhat, Sohail Tanvir for 2 years after World Cup and are now paying price for fielding undercooked players.
Pakistan is no.7 in rankings. Misbah has been a disaster ODI captain. The amount of lost ODI series I have watched over the last 3 years is just intolerable. After Asif and Amir episode the bowling department has remained mediocre to the core. Now even Indian bowling is better. This is shameful.
After this world cup need a clean slate. Players under 28 need to be picked who are fit and willingness to put some hard work in.
Take Shehzad as an example. Has a poor strike rate, unable to rotate strike. He is product of Misbah. So is Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq. These are test batsmen and will take us nowhere in ODIs.
The only exception is Umar Akmal who is dynamic but inconsistent. Could captaincy make him consistent?
I want this team for next ODI series.
Hafeez lower order finisher all rounder (if he clears test). If not or under performs then Maqsood.
